Grouse is a bird that gathers in the woods of northern Minnesota. Fairly nondescript looking, mostly tan feathers.

My hubby removed the meat from the bone and he sprinkled the top with seasoning. He let it sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes while the rice dish was cooking.

Ingredients

  • grouse
  • butter
  • mrs dash seasoning
  • seasoned salt

Once rice was almost done, he melted butter and placed the meat in the pan. Covered it and cooked it on medium heat until the breasts were no longer pink.

The flavor of the grouse was quite similar to chicken, but it was slightly dry. (I think some people crock pot them in cream of mushroom soup, but we like them in the butter)

When you eat them, there are lots of teeny tiny bones and some (maybe) pieces of metal. (From the buckshot)

Eat cautiously and enjoy!
