Get Ready for the House of the Dragon Finale With a Meal Fit for a Queen

Pop culture enthusiast and home chef. I love creating delicious and eye-catching meals, and I love a theme.

While Game of Thrones Fans are hungry for revenge during the season finale of House of The Dragon this weekend, you can feast like a Queen (or King, if you inexplicably side with House Green) with a delicious medieval themed meal.

The star of the show is a thickly sliced tomahawk ribeye. This particular cut of ribeye leaves at least 6-12 inches of bone attached - making it look like it belongs on a banquet table in King’s Landing.

For a mouthwatering meal, simply season the tomahawk very liberally with salt and pepper. You’ll want to sear the cut using the highest temperature possible - without access to a dragon, a cast-iron pan coated in avocado oil is your best bet. Thanks to its higher smoke point, you can get a deep, even sear without overly burning the meat. A flat cast-iron pan is ideal to ensure even coverage, but turning a deeper pan upside down will also do the trick. Once seared, finish cooking the steak in a 375 degree oven for about 20-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 125 degrees for rare, or 135 degrees for medium-rare.

For extra flavor and 7 kingdoms style flair, serve with a side of sauteed and chopped onions and baby bella mushrooms. We rounded out this feast with roasted rainbow carrots (the larger the better, aesthetically) and fried potato wedges.

If you wanted to go in another direction - an entire roast pig would be appropriate, unless of course you plan to invite Aemond Targaryen.

Whether or not you go full hog with this meal, the only proper way to enjoy the dance of the dragons is while toasting a "Negroni Sbagliato with prosecco in it." In this now infamous TikTok video, HOTD star Emma D’arcy aka Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen describes their favorite cocktail in a way that got the entire internet talking.

A sbagliato, translated to ‘mistake’, is a negroni made with prosecco in place of the traditional gin. This bubbly, bitter concoction is the perfect accompaniment to the last hour we’ll spend in the realm until 2024.
