Foods you should be eating, for a healthier lifestyle!

The word Carbohydrates have a bad reputation as far as weight loss is concerned, and “good carb” foods are almost never mentioned. Honestly, ask yourself what good carbs are, can you really name them? The term “bad carbs” is more commonly used by health and fitness gurus because of the high glycemic index that are found in some of these foods. We are often informed to try to avoid the “white foods.”

Avoiding the shunned "White foods" may not be such a wisest decission. Why? If White bread and refined sugar are obviously and undoubtedly two of the most unhealthy foods we could possibly consume. If we take a closer look at the white foods, however, there are some white foods which we should be including in our diets only a daily basis! Colorful fruits, vegetables and all greens have a great reputation in the health industry, and they definitely deserve it! Why? because of the powerful antioxidants they contain. What about the white foods? there are also some white foods that contain invaluable nutrients that aren't found in many other foods, so what are they?



Cauliflower is a perfect example of "good carb" foods, while being a "White food". Cauliflower is low in fat, and low in carbohydrates. It is also loaded with fiber, minerals, water, and vitamin C. Cauliflower has a high nutritional content and density, and contains several Phytochemicals, which are really common in cruciferous vegatables, and are highly beneficial to human health. Not to mention, some of the compounds in cruciferous vegetables are known to help prevent abdominal and body fat



Unfortunately, It is a little known fact that even white mushrooms have high levels of healthful nutrients and antioxidants similar to cauliflower. Mushrooms are a low-calorie, healthy white food and a good source of B vitamins, such as riboflavin, niacin and Pantothenic acid. Mushrooms also contain very essential minerals such as selenium, copper, potassium and vitamin D! Cool eh?!


Onions and Garlic!

Onions and Garlic are two white foods that are loaded with protective Phytonutrients, vitamins, and trace minerals that aren't common when it comes to other foods. Both Onions and Garlic have high in vitamin B and C, onions contain Phenolics and Flavonoids, that contain anti-inflammatory, anti-cholesterol, anticancer and antioxidant attributes. Garlic also has an incredible powerful property in which it provides a strong immune system, and help prevent heart disease as well as cancer!



Unfortunately, Potatoes have a bad reputation when it comes to eating healthy. Which, really is misleading, because they are, without question, one of the good carb white foods! White potatoes are a healthy source of carbohydrates, as long as they are eaten in the correct form, with the skin left ON, yes, on. They definitely shouldn't be eaten deep fried like potato chips or french fries! Seriously, French fries are one of the worst foods to consume, ever. Potatoes contain so many healthy attributes, vitamins and minerals as long as you eat the skin. Potatoes are a rich source of Vitamin B, and minerals such as potassium, magnesium and iron. Potatoes are underground tubing vegetables, which means that they store all of the vitamins and minerals needed for growing the new potato plants in spring, which helps to explain why they are so healthy. Potatoes also contain high amounts of fiber. The next time you are out at the grocery store looking for food, and stuff to buy for the week to come, ensure you load up on these healthy "White foods".


Consider juicing!

After learning about the above vegetables, you should also consider including "juicing" to your life of eating healthy!

There are quite a few "picky" eaters out there, who don't like the taste or look of vegetables, and ignore or avoid them all together. Juicing your vegetables can still provide your body with all of their contained vitamins and minerals. Cucumbers are also full of nutrients that your body needs to function. Make sure you leave them unpeeled to attain an even more healthy result.

In terms of various health benefits, the better types of juices come from more greener vegetables which include but are not limited to parsley, chard, spinach, kale and broccoli!

In order for you to get the most benefits out of your juicing, use no less than 50% green vegetables in your juice concoction. If you need to add more flavor to your green vegetable juice drink, consider adding other vegetables and even fruit. Fruit juices generally contain more of a sugar content than the juice from green vegetables and usually aren't as healthy for you as vegetables, but are still great for your body!


Enzymes in your saliva can play an important role in the digestion process when consuming your drink. There may be some unwanted pulp in your juices, so if you need to, you can use a coffee filter, or strainer to take out the pulp. If you are looking for a good juicer, you will need to find one that allows you to disassemble it and take it apart to ensure the ability to clean it.

Now you have some knowledge on some healthier foods to start to consume to ensure a healthier life style, as well as some information about juicing! Its your choice to decide if you want to take this information and run with it and purchase a juicer, and allow your body to have the nutrients it needs, and deserves.
