Mornings in the Philippines won't be completed if you don't have beef tapa.
But first! Have you already tasted or have you ever known what is beef tapa?
Beef tapa is a type of cured meat of thin slices of tender beef.It is usually served with sunny side up egg and fried rice.
You know what's good about tapa? You can have it ready in advance!
The ingredients are simple and quite easy to find. Marinate and put it in the freezer.
It is one of the most impressive Flipino dish because this is the all time favorite tapa, and well you can have it any time of the day.
We can have on breakfast,lunch,snacks and even dinner. It won't be a hassle and buzzle to prepare. It's as easy as 1,2,3.
Let me teach you how to make the perfect Beef Tapa!

Serves 2-3 peoples for 1/4 kilo of beef Tapa
- 1 kilo beef tapa, thinly slice
- 5 tablespoons garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 5 tablespoon soysauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- In a container, combine soy sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, and sugar and mix everything well.
- Place the beef in the clear plastic bag.
- Pour-in the the mixed seasonings in the clear plastic bag with meat and mix well
- Place inside the refrigerator and marinate for a minimum of 12 hours
If you would like to have a beefy and savory breakfast, you can just thaw and cook the beef tapa.
Since people now a days are always on the go this one is a good choice of high protein meal for breakfast.
Where did Beef Tapa originated?
Actually "Tapa" is a process of curing the meat in the pre-hispanic period. It is thinly slicing the meat and drying them under the sun to preserve them. As time goes by the evolution of tapa goes on by adding salt and other seasoning as part of the preservatives.
And Yes! Today we have the savory beef tapa that is marinated in garlic, soysauce and many other seasonings that makes it the best!
Some of the provinces here in the Philippines use horse meat, carabao or pork for tapa.
They say that Horse tapa is also one of the good meat for this dish and also the meat of horse is also tender.
Here in Bulacan I already heard about the Carabao Tapa and Pork Tapa and it really taste good. Somehow the Carabao Tapa has this smell that makes it different. Anyways it is still a good delicacy to enjoy.
Because of Tapa there are now restaurants that are called "Tapsihan". In the Tapsihan they serve variety of Tapa with the sunny side up egg and fried rice. The best partner for this breakfast combo is a hot cup of coffee.
Tapsihan also serves Tapa even at lunch and dinner. You can enjoy the tapa all day long! Yummy!
Let us now prepare our Beef Tapa to be fried!
All we need t o do is too go get 1/2 cup water and 3 tablespoon of oil for frying.
First we need to thaw the meat by boiling it. When the water is already dried and the meat is already tender we are noe ready for frying!
In the same pan we will fry the beef tapa by adding 3 tablespoon of oil in it. Fry until golden brown or the meat is totally cooked.
While frying the beef tapa you can barely smell the savory aroma of garlice that blends well with the meat that makes you excited to get your plate with sunny side up egg and fried rice.
Now serve our TapSiLog (Tapa,Sinangag at Itlog).
The texture and taste of tapa totally blends with sunny side up egg and fried rice.
And to make the preparation complete we need to have the condiment. The perfect pair for beef tapa. Vinegar with garlic and a pinch of salt. It's also great if you'll add a bit of chili for some spice.
The Beef tapa and vinegar taste is a perfect pair and it really taste good that your palate will be wanting more of it.
You can also try more tapa experiments by using fish or even chicken.

Hi, It is the Sirloin that is used for Tapa. Tapa is process of marinating and cooking the meat. You can also pork,chicken and fish.
