Easy To Make South Indian Recipe at Home- Rava Uttapam
Uttappam is a south Indian dish. In this article, I'll provide you with the recipe for Rava Uttapam. It is a highly healthy meal that is simple to prepare for breakfast and evening snacks.
Let's start
Ingredients required for uttapam recipe:
For batter
- 1 Cup Rava/ Sooji
- ½ Curd or Dahi
- ½ tsp garam masala
- Salt according to taste
For toppings
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 green chili finely chopped
- 1 green capsicum finely chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander finely chopped
- 1 Tomato finely chopped (you can skip it if don’t want it)
How to make uttapam recipe:
Now there is a new twist in the recipe. Traditionally, this recipe calls for toppings to be sprinkled on top of the uttapam, but I prepare it differently. Instead of sprinkling toppings on top, I combine all the ingredients in one bowl to make a batter.
- Take a large bowl and add I cup Rava, ½ cup curd, salt to taste, and garam masala in it and then use water to mix it and make a batter not very thick.
- Then after that add all the toppings onions, chili, finely-chopped green capsicum, a few curry leaves, and salt to taste and mix well.
- Pour some uttapam batter into a preheated nonstick tawa or pan on the stove.
- Spread the batter in a circular manner, as you'd do for masala dosa. Spreading should be done carefully because the uttapam should be thicker than regular dosa.
- Around the uttapam, add 1 tsp of oil.
- On low heat, let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
- When the uttapam is golden brown, flip it over the other side.
- Your uttapam is ready to serve with coconut chutney or with tomato sauce for children.
Suggestion:
You can add the toppings according to your choice and make it healthier.
