The "bloody" banana hoax
The "Bloody" Banana Myth
The "bloody" banana meme claims that groups of people are injecting blood infected with the AIDS virus (a.k.a. HIV) into bananas with the aim of killing millions of people and that this part of a Satanic plot. People are asked to share this as an information warning so people know to avoid bananas that are red in the middle.

The Facts About "Bloody" Bananas
While the things some people do often leave the mind boggling, I recommend a little discernment before falling for the "Bloody AIDS Banana Hoax".
First of all, even if some whacko IS injecting AIDS or HIV infected blood into bananas, doing so would be very unlikely to infect anybody who ingested the fruit with the HIV or the AIDS virus. Doing so would be a highly inefficient way to try to cause death on a large scale for various reasons.
For starters, it is known that the HIV virus can not survive outside of the human body for very long. The virus would not survive in a banana for more than a few hours. Even if one were to eat a banana purposely infected with the virus, it is unlikely that consuming the live virus would result in HIV infection.
The virus is contracted via blood to blood contact and sexual contact. It is known to be found in mucus membranes of the body, but even if somebody had mouth contusions, research has shown that saliva is not an environment conducive to the survival of the virus, unlike other, less acidic bodily fluids and the mucus membranes protecting the skin in such places. Similarly, the digestive juices of the stomach are known to kill the virus almost instantly. AIDS or HIV could not be contracted by ingestion.
That said, I understand that anybody who found red, crunchy bits in their banana would no doubt like to know WHAT they are eating. I, for one, would not eat anything drastically different in taste or appearance compared to how I have usually observed it to be, and I would not suggest eating ANYTHING that had such an uncommon anomaly without at least looking into it first.
A quick google search using descriptive terms rather than any terms directly quoted in any of these hoaxes, usually brings a fruitful search. A search of the words red crunchy banana core quickly bore fruit (pardon the intended pun :D )
According to Canadian Food Inspection Agency, there are a variety of plant diseases, mostly fungi, that can cause the inside of bananas to take on a red discolouration. One of these is a fungal disease named Nigrospora. The disease causes bananas infected with it to turn dark red in the middle. It is a common fungal disease in tropical climates, and most bananas are grown in such climates, and thus, bananas grown in areas where this fungus is present, can be affected by this disease.
Another three diseases that can cause red discolouration in bananas are bacterial diseases known by the names Mokillo, Moko, and Blood Disease. These bacterium are known to be responsible for bacterial diseases that cause red discoloration in bananas.
It is thought that both the red discolouration and the name of the bacterium called Blood Disease are what have lead to the false claims of bananas containing blood. As logic would suggest, the CFIA, while stating that none of these diseases in bananas are a threat to human health, also admit that eating affected bananas might not be appealing, and suggest that anybody in doubt after finding strange red patches and/or cores in their bananas, or any other strange fruit anomalies, throw out the affected fruit, or compost them.
Other sources in the UK have reported that an 8 year old child was admitted to hospital following advice from the NHS 111 advice line, after a mother rang complaining her daughter was sick after eating a banana with red patches in the middle. It was determined that the banana was affected by the Nigrospora fungus. However, reports also clarified that while some people might feel unwell upon ingesting affected bananas, it is known that affected fruit does NOT cause any significant illness.

HIV and AIDS
Some Facts about AIDS and HIV
AIDS, or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is not actually the contagious virus, but a condition that develops sometime after contracting the contagious virus known as HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus. This virus is a retro virus which can only passed on and/or contracted through blood to blood contact or sexual contact.
The virus cannot be contracted via ingestion or general physical contact, and it is considered highly unlikely that it could be contracted through the intimate act of kissing without a range of factors combining. That said, it is only speculation that such is even possible, with most medical practitioners and scientists thinking it is not possible.
After contracting/ being infected with the HIV virus, flu like symptoms and fatigue usually develop within a matter of weeks, but this can sometimes be mistaken for a common cold. From there on, the disease may become asymptomatic, and this phase might last for months, is not always the case, and in fact, the virus can remain in this "dormant" phase for years.
Eventually, the disease will progress to become AIDS, the symptoms of which include weight loss, fever or night sweats, fatigue and recurrent infections, and eventually, death will occur, usually from a more common infection such as flu or pneumonia.
There is no known cure for AIDS or HIV, but the condition can be managed with recent advancements in anti viral medications. This treatment involves a range of medications and treatment is referred to as antiretroviral regimens (ARVs). For such treatment to be successful in slowing the disease's progress and preventing secondary infections and complications, strict adherence to the treatment is essential.

Learn to Discern
A Word on Discernment
I strongly recommend learning to discern, and becoming familiar with both the limitations and benefits of using Google as the research tool for which it is intended. Sometimes, one needs to be creative with one's search terms, lest results are flooded with trending hoaxes, interspersed with Snopes or Hoax Slayer results. Not all hoax check sites are entirely truthful or accurate.
Let us not turn Google into a religion as we have done with main stream science. Learn to discern yourself. Knowledge is power. Not all main stream media and main stream science sources will reveal the truth as it is in reality. Popular consensus does not make something fact.

Stay safe everyone....
