Can Juicing Help with Weight Loss?

Hello beautiful! I'm here to tell you the secret to weight loss.

And that is...THERE IS NO SECRET!

Before you start sighing, I will tell you that there is one method that will help you lose weight in a safe and fast manner.

Combined with a balanced alkaline diet, exercise program, and a vegetable-based juice or smoothie a day, you will shed that stubborn weight in no time.

Juicing has become this year's growing trend for good reason. Juicing is like taking a multi-vitamin, in the form of liquid nutrients. Except it's better than taking a pill. You're getting all the nutrients from fresh, raw fruits and vegetables in the the MOST EFFICIENT way as possible.

Your digestive system gets to take a break while all the vitamins and antioxidants are absorbed. If you're considering juicing and this is your first time, make sure you read my guide first!

Forget the fad diets. Forget the miracle pills. Start juicing with one or all of the five recipes shared in this article. Eat real foods. Move your body more. Think happy thoughts. Get quality sleep. And you will never have to diet again.

Juicer Recipes for Weightloss

In my private holistic health coaching practice, we encourage our clients to incorporate fresh juices as a way of life, not a diet. Remember, juicing is a lifestyle, not a diet.

Don't expect the colorful nutrient-rich juice to magically melt away the pounds and excess fat on its own. However, when combined with a proper meal plan and exercise program, you can reach your natural body weight easily.

Here are a few reasons why juicing fruits and vegetables can help with weight loss:

  • The large amount of water in fruits and vegetables will keep you hydrated.
  • What about the sugar in fruits? Small amounts of fructose have little or no effect on your weight. As long as you don't overdo it (about 15 grams a day), go ahead and add some fruits! The liver can use this small amount of fructose to create energy without upsetting the way the body uses insulin. With my recipes, I always tell clients to use about 75% vegetables (particularly green leafy ones) and 25% fruit.
  • Certain vegetables, like dandelion or kale, will help detox your blood and organs. Beets are powerful cleansers of the blood and helps strengthen the heart. This is important if you participate in an exercise program.
  • Green leafy vegetables, such as kale, have a high content of protein, which is essential for muscle building.

Proper Combining of Fruits and Vegetables

An important thing to remember when juicing for weight loss is to make sure that you are combining the correct ratio of fruits and vegetables. Your goal should be to use more vegetables than fruits.

In general, you should use about 75% vegetables. Use this ratio as a guideline only. Don't get too caught up on the exact percentages. The goal is to use more nutrient-dense green leafy vegetables that not only detoxes your entire body but aids your weight loss goals.

Certain vegetables help your body maintain a stable blood sugar level, which is critical to curbing your appetite.

Carrots, sweet potatoes, and parsley are great examples. Adding herbs such as cayenne pepper, paprika, cinnamon, garlic can help boost the metabolism.


Energizer Bunny on Crack Juice

Obviously it's not really crack, but this juice combination will give you so much sustained energy!

Please use organic produce to prevent adding more toxins and chemical to your body.

*Makes about 32 oz glass

  • 3 kale leaves and stalk
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 3 stalks of celery
  • 1/4 fennel bulb
  • 1/4 head of romaine lettuce (or napa cabbage)
  • 1-2 apples
  • 1/2 inch ginger

Did you know that you can juice a sweet potato? Add a pineapple to balance out the sweetness! Yum!

Sweet Curb Appetite Juice

*Makes 24 oz

This juice will help curb your appetite. If you have a sweet craving late at night, make yourself a sweet juice instead of reaching for the candy bar.

You can also add a 1/2 inch knob of ginger for a kick of flavor. Ginger will also help soothe your digestive system.

  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 2-3 carrots
  • 1 orange
  • 1/4 pineapple (about 1 cup chopped pineapples)
  • optional: squeeze half a lemon in!

Green Gut BeGone!

*Makes about 24 oz

  • 5 celery stalks
  • 2 kale stalks
  • 6-8 romaine leaves (or napa cabbage)
  • 1 apple
  • palmful of parsley
  • 1/2 knob of ginger


Beet Blood Infusion Juice

*Makes about 24 oz

Beets are very strong detoxing ingredients. Start off with a small amount, and work your way up.

Beets are incredibly healthy for the brain and is good for mental health. This drink will not only detox your blood, but will also wake you up in the morning! If you enjoy working out in the morning, drink this juice instead of your usual coffee.

One of my clients wanted to give up coffee and had a difficult time. After the first two weeks of consistently drinking beet juice in the morning, he was able to taper off the coffee addiction.

Too much coffee impairs your adrenal glands, which is essential when it comes to overall health and weight loss.

  • 1/2 small beet
  • 3 chard leaves (or kale)
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1 apple
  • pinch of cayenne pepper

Strong Core Juice

*Makes about 24 oz

There aren't any guarantee that you'll really get a six pack with this juice. However, drink it anyway and go do a core workout!

  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 broccoli floret
  • 1 cucumber
  • handful of parsley
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 inch know of ginger

Yes the sweet potato can be juiced raw. With the thermomix, you'd have to strain it out in a nut bag.

I like the slow, masticating juicer which extracts more juice without compromising the loss of nutrients. The Omega is a great investment- rpm speed of about 80. Hope that helps!

You can substitute for any other leafy greens- whatever's on sale or cheaper. Swiss chard, spinach, and also celery, cucumbers, even cabbage...sub for same amount or as much as your taste buds can tolerate. The more greens, the better!

Yes definitely add more green vegetables for anti-inflammation. If you want faster results, consider adding ginger or turmeric root. Add about 1/4 inch-the roots will add a spicy kick to the taste of juice.

If you can't stand the taste of ginger/turmeric, they also have turmeric pills-highly recommended!

There is so much variety for leafy greens. Your husband definitely has options like chard, spinach, collard, cabbage, bok choy (tastes mild) and even romaine lettuce. All these greens are very nutrient-dense! And your dog is awesome lol ;-)
