Creative Hamburgers

As much as eating healthy is good for you, isn't it also lovely to splurge on a tasty cheeseburger from time to time? Sometimes the same old cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo/mustard, tomatoes, pickles, and onions can be boring. If you feel this way, perhaps you're looking to glam up your cheeseburger a little bit...make it more unique.

Creative hamburgers and cheeseburgers are sometimes hard to come by in your every-day run-of-the-mill restaurant; however, you can create your own very creative hamburgers by adding some unexpected and tasty toppings. Here are some crazy and creative burger topping ideas that might inspire you to grab a grill, a spatula, and some burger ingredients ASAP!

Add Unexpected Veggies & Fruits to Your Creative Hamburgers

To come up with a creative hamburger, you simply have to think outside the normal burger box. We normally see onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles on our burgers right? So throw some unexpected veggies and burger toppings on your burger that might not usually be done.

How about some avocado on your burger? Roasted red peppers, beetroot, spinach, jalapenos, the creative burger topping ideas with veggies are endless! Check out the very tasty looking Euro Burger to the right. This burger was made with a slice of Brie Cheese, Beetroot, Greens, and tomatoes. Talk about delicious and creative.

What about using fruit on your creative hamburgers? Check out the mango fruit burger in the picture above, and what about adding a grilled slice of pineapple to your hamburger and making it Hawaiian? Apples go well with bacon, so add these two burger topping ideas to your creative hamburgers and watch the mouths drool!

The Not So Healthy but Oh-So-Delicious Creative Hamburgers

If you're not a big veggie fan, or you simply want to go "heart attack on a plate" with your creative hamburgers, try out some of these unique and crazy burger topping ideas.

Have you ever had a doughnut burger? Or what about a mac n' cheese burger? The first time I heard of these crazy and creative hamburgers was on the radio; they were talking about the whacky foods at the state fair and mentioned these two crazy burgers. I had to try them! The doughnut burger was very good, but the mac n' cheese burger was even better. Why not try making both? Check out the video above to find out how to make a doughnut burger as your creative hamburger.

The most impressive creative hamburger I've come across yet is the Hangtown Burger pictured to the right. A hamburger topped with fried egg, bacon, and fried oyster with a special sauce...it can't get any better than that!

Not down to put more fried things on your creative hamburgers? No problem. Try some unique but a little more normal burger topping ideas, such as: a mushroom swiss burger, a jalapeno & bacon burger, an egg & bacon burger, a BBQ cheddar burger, or simply switch the bun on your creative hamburger to be something out of the ordinary like sourdough, french, or potato bread!

Still don't like these burger topping ideas? Simply switch up the condiments you are using. Always use ketchup & mayo? Try thousand island dressing, ranch, or barbecue sauce. You could also be courageous and try hummus and various types of hot sauce - cock sauce, cholula, tobasco, or hot pete's would be scrumptious.

And who doesn't love hamburgers. Lots of good suggestions here and thank goodness ground beef is so versatile. You can have it for dinner every night for a year and do something different. Great Hub.

Yes, thanks PDX for sharing!

John - Who doesn't love hamburgers (I mean besides those fanatic vegans LOL). The doughnut burger was a bit much for me, but the rest are delicious! Thanks for the comment.

Excellent hub! What can I say? I love hamburgers!!! ...would have never thought of being this creative with them. ...must try the donut one, because, donuts are probably the only thing I love as much as hamburgers....

Voted interesting

John

PS. thanks for sharing PDX

PDXKaraokeGuy - I agree, I don't eat burgers much at all but when I do why not indulge all the way? Thanks for the comment.

For health reasons, I limit my intake of burgers, but, when I do have one, I go all out. Grilled onions, cheese ketchup, mayo, ketchup and lettuce. I love pickles but not on my burgers. I often had a slice of ham, an egg and/or pineapple and sometimes grilled jalapenos. I'll have to try the mango burger.

Bonny OBrien from Troy, N.Y. on July 07, 2012:

Wow that donut burger is really something! I like the sounds of the mac & cheese burger, not to sure about fruit tho.

Beth Perry from Tennesee on July 06, 2012:

It is a good thing I just finished dinner or gosh those photos would have me salivating now! lol Good burger ideas, Kitty!

Elena from London, UK on June 29, 2012:

Naturallygrassfed - Thanks, and I agree with you; however, avocado on burgers is amazing!

phoenix - I'm jealous. ;)

That mac and cheese hamburger really captures my imagination. Guess what we'll be doing this weekend.

I love burgers, but what I found here are unique and truly creative. I can't imagine how that avocado burger tastes though. I'd like to try that in the future... :)

MakJoSi on June 26, 2012:

Aw, maybe I will get a second monitor first and chew up this one. I think it's just delicious if it can display such tasty food! hahaha!

Kitty Fields (author) from Summerland on June 26, 2012:

cryptid - That sounds delicious too! That's a pretty creative hamburger too! Thanks so much.

MakJosi - Haha! Don't do that...you need to see what you're writing!

MakJoSi on June 26, 2012:

Oh crap now you made me want to eat them all and bite my monitor.. what a punishment! XD

cryptid from USA on June 26, 2012:

Some of those look great. I like to make burgers with mozzarella cheese and pasta sauce sometimes, but it seems tame in comparison to some of yours. Nice Hub!
