Lo Mein Noodles

You don't have to go to a fancy Chinese restaurant to enjoy a delicious plate or bowl of lo mein noodles. All you have to do is pick up some fresh lo mein noodles from your local supermarket along with a few other ingredients and then prepare them at home.

It is quick and easy to prepare a lo mein noodles recipe and it costs less than an entrée at a restaurant. Plus, you don't have to wait to be seated or wait to be served. And there is no credit card to swipe afterwards. In less than twenty minutes you can have yourself a delicious and healthy bowl of lo mein noodles that your whole family will love.

Below you will find my lo mein noodles recipe. I hope you give it a try. It is really good. And I am not just saying it because I made it. Others have tried it and told me they loved it a lot.

  • 1 package fresh lo mein noodles
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 stalks scallion
  • salt
  • roasted sesame seeds
  • few tablespoons sesame oil
  • cooking oil
  • water


  1. Place a pot of water with a little bit of salt on medium heat. When the water starts to boil add the lo mein noodles. When the water starts to boil again cook the noodles for 2-3 minutes. Drain out the water and quickly rinse with water so the lo mein noodles don't stick. Place them into a large bowl and set aside. To speed up the process of getting water to boil the first time around you can first boil water in a kettle and add it to the pot along with the salt. Doing this will make it boil faster...
  2. Peel a medium onion and cut into slices. Then wash three stalks of scallion and cut into slices (not too small, not too big). Pour cooking oil into a skillet and once heated place the onion and the scallion inside and cook for a few minutes stirring occasionally. They should be slightly golden brown. When they are turn off the heat.
  3. Put the cooked onion and scallion into the bowl with the noodles. Sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds. Add a few tablespoons of sesame oil and mix. Since the lo mein noodles are very long it is easier to mix everything with your hands than using a fork. So try doing it this way but be sure to wash your hands prior to doing it. When you are done mixing place the noodles onto a plate and serve with chopsticks.
  4. You can eat lo mein noodles cold or hot. If you prefer them hot then you may need to heat them as rinsing them with water may cool them down.

Contrary to what you might think, Chinese cuisine, which is a popular part of Asian cuisine, can be healthy and good for you. It all depends on the ingredients and sauces that are used in the recipes, and how those recipes are prepared.

Obesity is very uncommon among the Chinese people, which also proves that Chinese cuisine is indeed a healthy way of life and can be consumed and enjoyed without worrying about gaining weight.

Of course it also depends on a person's metabolism when it comes to weight gain; however, I think you don't have to limit yourself when it comes to Chinese cuisine. Eat at your heart's content.
