Cheese Curds Beer Battered and Deep Fried
Ingredients
- cheese curds
Coating:
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup beer
Freeze curds in single layer, making certain curds are not stuck to each other.
I took them out of their packaging and placed them in a gallon size zip lock bag.
To keep them flat, I used a metal cake pan lid for a sheet.
Mix Batter
I did a half batch to try this out, and used equal amounts of flour and beer. I added baking powder to the flour and stirred it all together.
The batter was smooth and thick. The curds condensate as you bring them out in the air. A light dusting of flour, then dip in the batter.
Break Egg into Bowl and Stir
Add flour and beer
Take a few curds out of the freezer. Dip in flour. Then dip in batter. Then, remove from batter and directly place in deep fryer.
I tried the process with one curd to see results. I decided that I needed to coat all and then gently drop all one by one into deep fryer.
