Campfires - Stick Cooking Dogs and S'mores

We use a large metal ring to keep our fire confined. It has designs cut in the side for good air flow.

We have metal sticks to hover our food over the coals. The steady heat cooks the hotdogs and the marshmallows get a nice golden brown color, unless they catch on fire.

Graham crackers. Snack size Hershey bars. Burnt marshmallow.

A golden brown marshmallow is a desired thing, however, it lacks the melt and flavor of a burnt marshmallow.

The majority of marshmallows catch on fire. Many times, at this point, the metal rod will melt through the marshmallow and the marshmallow will fall into the coals below. Goodbye, marshmallow...
