- lemon cake mix
- lemon powder
Important. Baking ingredients must be room temperature. I got my eggs out the day before. The oil is stored on my counter, the eggs are stored in refrigerator.
I used faucet cold water, but really should have used room temperature water. I added lemon powder to the water for intense lemon flavor. Two of them. The box calls for three eggs. I used four.
All the ingredients got mixed together in a large, eight cup measuring cup. I used an electric mixer on mixer speed. Two minutes.
The cake pan needed shortening on the bottom only. The oven at 350 degrees. Preheat.
Grease Pan with Shortning
Pour batter into prepared pan. The cake instructed me to grease bottom only the bottom, not the sides.
Into preheated oven. Box says 33 minutes for 13 x 9 pan. The same mix works in other pan types.
Good idea to tiptoe around while baking...
Tiptoe While Baking then Test with Toothpick
I found too that running the mixer blades in water at a good speed did take the majority of batter off the blades. They still needed to be washed in soap water, but it was a start.

Urwa, thank you for your comment. No, their birthdays are on different days. No, there was too much happening that week...his father passed away... and Easter was acknowledged a week late, our anniversary [36 years] his birthday, her birthday.

ohh wow what a beautiful day for you and your family. Is your husband and granddaughter's birthday the same?

Urwa, my hubby came up with it. He's the lemon cake lover... His birthday and our youngest granddaughter celebrated together. 6 candles times ten, and 1 candle plus 1 candle.
