Top 10- Best Starbucks Drinks

Well I recently got a job at Starbucks, and since I have started, there have been a lot of different drinks that aren't on the Menu, or have slight variations which add to them. Before starting at Starbucks, I was one of the people who never knew what to order there and since I have gained a little more experience with their drinks I decided I would write a hub about it to try to help people discover some different drinks that taste very good (In my opinion).
Well I will be counting down from 10 to 1 in this hub for my personal favourite drinks. Some people may not have the same taste, but hopefully everyone can find something they enjoy.
The name that I post is the proper name for the drink, so you can simply say what is written and it should be correct.

10- Raspberry Passion Tea Lemonade
Description: Well this one is not a very adventurous drink, but if you aren't a big Starbucks person, you may not be aware of this possible addition. The raspberry passion tea lemonade simply has the Passion tea, lemonade, and raspberry syrup instead of the normal classic that is in it by default. This makes the drink much more delicious in my opinion when you add the raspberry instead of using just regular liquid sugar. If you like the Passion tea, this should definitely be a drink that you try out.

9- Caffe Vanilla Frappuccino
Description: This is a frappuccino that was on the main list of drinks at our store while I was training, but it was not on the menu. I have been to many Starbucks locations around Canada and very few of them actually have this frappuccino listed. It is my favourite default frappuccino, but many people will see this one on the menu since it is not changed at all. This frappuccino has a coffee frappuccino base with the ice along with vanilla bean powder. It is very good in my opinion and took over as my favourite frappuccino for a while until I learnt the custom ones.

8- Captain Crunch Frappuccino
Description: Well this drink may be known to some people, but I know a lot of people around my store was not aware of what this is. You may have to kind of tell them what is in this drink for it to be made correctly. What this drink has in it is the Frappuccino Cream base to the first line, Strawberry juice to the second line, and either Toffenut or Hazelnut syrup along with the proper ice scoop. This is a pretty good frappuccino, and definitely one to try!

7- White Mocha Frappuccino
Description: This is identical to a regular mocha frappuccino other than the fact that it uses white chocolate mocha syrup rather than normal chocolate mocha syrup. This is for anyone who loves white chocolate instead of dark chocolate. If you enjoy coffee then you should keep this regular, but if you prefer cream drinks, then you should get this with the cream base instead to try and add more white chocolate flavour and make it slightly more creamy.

6- Affogato Vanilla Bean Frappuccino
Description: Well a lot of people do not enjoy the coffee base that Starbucks has naturally, but does enjoy the coffee taste. I actually really enjoy this frappuccino and it has become one of my favourite drinks to order. Affogato simply means pouring a shot of espresso on top of the frappuccino. So what this will be is a regular Vanilla bean frappuccino with one shot of espresso poured on top after it has been blended. It give the vanilla taste along with a hint of coffee.

5- Caramel Mocha Frappuccino
Description: I have found that many people enjoy either mocha frappuccino's java chip frappuccino's or caramel frappuccino's. These are the top 3 most common drinks I usually see being ordered, and why not try adding the flavors to get the best of both worlds! This frappuccino has half mocha syrup, and half caramel syrup along with the coffee frappuccino base. It has an interesting taste which is more overpowered by the chocolate, so you may want to either reduce the amount of mocha added by specifying, or add some caramel syrup if you have more of a sweet-tooth!

4- Oreo Frappuccino
Description: This is a delicious frappuccino that many people with a sweet-tooth should enjoy! It can be quite chocolaty though, so you may substitute less Chocolate chips or remove the mocha syrup if you do not like it the traditional way. Again, this may be a drink that some Barista's may not know how to make, so just try to instruct them a little bit if they aren't too sure how. This frappuccino has a cream base along with mocha syrup added to it. This mocha syrup is optional depending on how chocolaty you'd like it though. After this, you should get Vanilla bean powder along with chocolate chips added to the frappuccino. The mocha syrup and chocolate chips act as the chocolate for the Oreo, and the Vanilla bean powder along with the cream base acts as the filling inside the Oreo's. This is definitely a great drink that everyone should try at least once!

3- Apple Pie Frappuccino
Description: This is a great Frappuccino that anyone who loves the taste of apple pie should enjoy. The way that you make this frappuccino is to add the Cream frappuccino base with apple juice to make up the bulk of the drink. The extra ingredients that will be added to this will include Caramel syrup, Cinnamon, whipped cream and caramel drizzle. I've only had this a couple of times, but both times I have enjoyed it very much!

2- Iced tall sugar-free caramel, Nonfat, Light Ice, Starbucks double shot on ice
Description: Well this is my ultimate drink if I am looking for something healthy during the day that I can feel good about after. I usually alternate between this drink and the Mint/Mocha Frappuccino listed in my number 1 spot. This drink has 3 pumps of sugar-free caramel syrup which has 0 calories in it. This drink also has 2 Espresso shots in it along with about a half of a tall ice scoop since it is light ice. After this it is topped with Skim milk. I always get Light ice because if I don't the nonfat milk doesn't add much milky taste and therefore it is quite strong. If you like the espresso, you shouldn't get the light ice, but if it is a bit too strong for you like it is for me, you should get light ice in it. This drink has next to no calories other than what's in the espresso shots and the skim milk which is almost none, so it is a great drink that tastes amazing and won't make you fat!

1- Tall Two Pump Peppermint, Two pump Mocha Blended Cream Frappuccino
Description: This frappuccino really tastes like a chocolate mint. I personally love chocolate mints, and this is why this drink is my favourite if I’m looking for a treat. It has two pumps of the peppermint syrup, two pumps of the mocha syrup, a cream frappuccino base along with a scoop of tall ice. This is a more fattening drink however, so I usually only have it if I am looking for a treat at Starbucks or will only be having one drink for the day.

Well this wraps up my top 10 Starbucks drinks that everyone should try. Some of these will not appeal to you, but many of these might. There is a wide variety of flavours and combinations in this list, so there should be something that applies to everyone in this list. All of these drinks are quite fattening however, so if you are worried about this, I would suggest getting drink #2 on my list since it has next to no calories. I hope this helps you to find your favourite Starbucks drink so you can start enjoying your drinks a lot more.

I am not a cold coffee drinker so most of these don't thrill me. I love my White Chocolate Mocha with an extra shot. The extra shot is more about the taste because I like the strong taste.

White mocha iced coffee with cream. Best drink ever

k on March 05, 2013:

you must be either an obese diabetic or an athlete because starbucks drinks are too sweet with even 1 pump, and the sugar free syrups are disgustingly sweet. if you need that much extra sugar/sweetness you probably don't like coffee

shzntmcgurt on September 02, 2012:

what about java chip !

ShiningIsta on August 02, 2012:

Green Tea Frapuccino with Coconut... I get it with non-fat milk, no whip to save just a little bit of calories, but either way it is great, a barista recommended it, and I love it.

Ean on January 03, 2012:

These are fantastic suggestions! I've just been looking at at a lot of lists that are outdated (when was the last time there was almond syrup). Try the Lemon Meringue Frappuccino: Lemon to the first line, dairy to the second, Vanilla Bean Powder, Creme Base. Top with Whip and bean powder! It's also good to add in shortbread cookies!

ashley on October 15, 2011:

A peppermint white mocha is my fav!!!! Its like christmas in a cup! But when the pumpkin spice comes around its definitely a pumpkin spice chai tea latte! Its funny I to worked at Starbucks and would make all kinds of creations! Fun times!

The best drink is a Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato with the original vanilla suryp, but along with toffee nut or hazelnut. and a dollop of whipped cream... And the undertoe, it is amazing. I usually use white mocha and a quarter pump of raspberry. so good.

That's it? I've been working at a starbucks for little over 6 months, and everything here is so basic

franky on July 30, 2010:

@akirchner You probably aren't going to be reading this since you commented 4 wks ago, so for those who ARE reading here's my take and personal history with the very common tummy ache after having a Starbucks drink.

One common trait that most Starbucks drinkers have is their love for high sugar drinks, drinks made with high sugar syrups, maybe even carbonated drinks. Well I had the same problem and as a regular coffee drinker I wanted to solve my problem ASAP! It's very hard getting through labwork without taking a break for a nice latté lol. Anyway I went to my doctor and after a few visits which eliminated the idea it was caffeine the problem was identified. TOO MUCH SUGAR! LOL

Trust me, next time you order a drink at Starbucks, try ordering one with a sugar-free syrup. Unfortunately there are only like 4 to 5 sugar free flavors in my area. I made the "simple" change and sure enough, no more tummy aches. Oh yeah might wanna order no-whip too. Only thing that gets on my nerve is when I order let's say a simple grande sugar-free no whip vanilla latté, the cashier yells Grande SKINNY VL.....nonfat milk, in my opinion, makes any drink, even something simple, taste a lil burned. I like my whole milk lol and skinny doesn't use whole milk. Just my 2cents

Oh yeah, lol, just thought this would be a funny jtk for those familiar with the undertow, here in College Station, TX we call that a Chuck Norris, cuz its like a punch in the face hahahahaha.....

You say exactly what is posted for each of these.. They are put in correct order and such

rachel on July 22, 2010:

how th heck do you order no.1

Audrey Kirchner from Washington on July 02, 2010:

I love the caramel mocha but for some reason, Starbucks coffee gives me a stomachache - I drink coffee all the time and lattes are one of my favorite 'treats' but can't quite figure out what it is about Starbucks coffee that gives me a pain in the stomach! Good picks though for great coffee drinks.

Garrett on July 02, 2010:

And p.s. I work at starbucks too

Garrett on July 02, 2010:

Cinnamon dolce white mocha is great too, absolute best is an undertoe, short cup, 2 pumps of a syrup (usually cinnamon dolce, but I prefer hazelnut) then milk to fill about 1/3 of the cup, then put a milk spoon on top so that it is convex out of the cup, with the tip resting against the side, just above the milk, and pull two shots over the spoon into the milk so that the shots rest on top; drink it all at once!!!!! The hot bitterness of the shot and cool sweetness of the milk blend beautifully in your mouth

Mike Chronos on June 11, 2010:

A double chocalaty chip mocha does sound great right about now Lexie! Great hub! I rarely get my coffee from Starbucks because I buy from ChronosCoffee; however, the last time I needed coffee on the go I bought from them and I got a free coupon for a cup of any drink I wanted on my receipt so that was kind of nice.

lexie on May 24, 2010:

I would like the recipe for a double chocolaty chip mocha.
