3 Cake Mixes

To start with, do not follow the directions on the box. The recipe is a failed cake recipe. The cake fails and settled into a moderately hard or solid lump.

But, so yummy.

Oil, egg, cake mix, stir. It's that simple. No water. No mixer. Bake. Frost.

Ingredients

  • carrot cake cake mix
  • triple chocolate cake mix
  • white cake mix
  • oil
  • eggs
  • chocolate chips
  • carrots
  • pineapple
  • cinnamon
  • ginger
  • nutmeg
  • cream cheese frosting
  • strawberry frosting

Three bowls. 1/2 cup oil in each one. 2 eggs in each. 1 box cake mix. Stir with spoon. No mixer.

I used disposable pans so I did not have to keep track of them after the funeral.

I sprayed the inside with Pam spray. I had butter flavor. Don't know if it makes a big difference what kind.

Oven 350 degrees. 30 minutes.

Carrot cake got the extra raw cut carrots and the cup of pineapple tidbits. I added cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. After it cooled, it got cream cheese frosting.

The triple chocolate cake mix got a small package of chocolate chips and strawberry frosting.

The white cake got chocolate chips and no frosting.

The white cake mix and the chocolate cake mix got semi-sweet chocolate chips stirred in at the last moment.

Use a spreader to move batter to all points in pan. The batter will be like a ball of clay.

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean. Let cool and when cooled, cover bars with cover that came with pan. Best to not let them dry out too much.

Frost when cool. The moisture in the frosting will somewhat hydrate the top of the bars, adhering and drying. The frosting will become slightly firm.

Frosting works better when room temperature. Here, 75 degrees.

I used the back side, rounded, of a spoon.

Smear a glob across the cake. One direction.

Get more frosting on spoon. Continue globbing on cake surface. Do not rub. If cake pulls off, come back to that spot later.

Louise, I see that Walmart doesn't ship to England, but they are named something else over there. Asda. But, even at that, they had vanilla buttercream, but no creamy cream cheese frosting. (...land sakes, how do you choke down carrot cake without it???) Smile. I did notice that if you wanted to create some homemade, it's butter, cream cheese, vanilla and confectioners sugar...

I must say, it does look lovely. When I read the cream cheese, I was thinking like of savoury cream cheese. I'm in England and have never come across creamy cheese frosting before.
