Autumn is here, which means changing leaves, comfort food, holidays, and a fantastic autumn evening spent with family and friends. What says autumn more than sharing an excellent dark beer with the deep flavor autumn beers are known for with friends?
Autumn is known for beer. There are even holidays to celebrate it. Autumn beers are deep in color and flavor. Here are autumn's finest offerings that go perfect on cool autumn nights. Autumn beers are all about the richness of the harvest, spices, orchards, and smoke to a backdrop of hearty reds and browns for a much richer beer. With the richness of the malt and slightly higher alcohol content, Autumn beer is the only beer I will drink. It is as much a part of fall as the pumpkin pie of Halloween to me. It is truly a time then I look forward to the most.
Pumpkin beer- nothing makes you want to grab your sweater and welcome the season more than a good Pumpkin beer with its mild scent of cinnamon and pumpkin is perfect for cool autumn nights.
Pumpkin Beer has had a long history in the U.S, everything from a health tonic to a family staple. Pumpkin beer has even had folk songs made about it.
Some of the best pumpkin beers to enjoy on a fantastic evening are
Dogfish Head Pumpkin Ale- It has a deep caramel color, a sweet taste, and a hint of allspice. That makes this beer a top favorite.
Shipyard Pumpkinhead- This is like having pumpkin pie in a bottle. It has a good amount of cinnamon and a very light pumpkin flavor.
Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale- the Original American pumpkin ale, so they say. Has a mild pumpkin flavor.
Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale- lots of pumpkin flavor with a hint of ginger and a smoky malt taste.
Some none pumpkin beers that are wonderful to have on cool autumn nights are
Spaten Oktoberfest- is an amber-colored beer with a mild sweet rye taste.
Sierra Nevada Tumbler- This is a light mild beer that’s not too sweet.
Firestone Walker Velvet Merlin- This is a highly dark heavy roosted beer. Has almost a chocolate taste.
Most fall beer is only available for two or three months, so be sure to grab them before they disappear for the year. These autumn beers are a must for any beer enthusiast to try. They are perfect for sharing with friends on those cool autumn nights.

In today's modern world of air conditioners and central heating, I think the concept of seasonal beers is out dated. In the winter, I can put the central heating on high, put on my Magnum PI shirt and enjoy a Maui Bikini Blonde Lager. In the summer, it's on with the air con at the freezer setting and sit shivering with a Tally Ho Barley Wine. I love drinking whatever beer takes my fancy. Unfortunately, many breweries don't see things the same way. So, pleasures such as Fullers Summer Ale are not available outside of a narrow window of opportunity. Sob sob.

I just love autumn beers, especially the dark variety! I wish we had them here, but sadly they don't exist in Peru. Thank you for giving us a nice overview of the best. Voted up!
