Healthy, tasty, and yummy Uggu (Multigrain Cereal Food) for Kids

Uggu (Multigrain Cereal Food For Kids) is a healthy traditional recipe for babies 6 months to 2 years of age. It is crafted with various pulses and grains that mostly contain protein, iron, vitamins, fiber, and carbohydrates. It helps in improving baby’s weight. It is very smooth to feed and easily digestible food for babies. As it tastes yummy, babies love it.

Preparation of Uggu:


Multigrain Cereals

White Rice – 1/4 Cup

Brown Rice – 1/4 Cup

Toor Dal – 1/4 Cup

Moong Dal – 1/4 Cup

Chana Dal – 1/4 Cup

Masoor Dal – 1/4 Cup

Urad Dal – 1/4 Cup

Barley – 1/4 Cup

Finger Millets – 1/4 Cup

Jowar – 1/4 Cup

Wheat – 1/4 Cup

Oats – 1/4 Cup

Badam – 10

Cashew Nuts – 10

Jeera – 1/4 Tablespoon

Ajwain – 1/4 Tablespoon

Preparation Method:

For preparing uggu powder, take a bowl, add white rice, brown rice, toor dal, moong dal, chana dal, masoor dal, urad dal, barley, finger millets, jowar, and wheat and wash thoroughly for three to four times. After washing add fresh water and soak it for five hours. After four hours of soaking, remove the water using a strainer and transfer them onto a clean cloth, spread them, and allow them to dry completely.

After drying completely, take a pan, keep it on the stove, and light it. After the pan gets hot, add a little ghee and dry roast the dry ingredients on low flame until they turn into light brown color. It smells good while roasting. Now, transfer them into a clean bowl and keep aside to get them cool. Now add a little ghee to the same pan on the stove and add oats, badam, pista, and cashew nuts and roast them until color changes. Transfer them into a bowl, keep it aside, and allow them to cool.

Take a mixie jar, add all the roasted ingredients, jeera, and ajwain and grind them into a fine powder. Now, the healthy Uggu powder is ready. Transfer this powder into an airtight container. It can be stored for about two months.

Preparation of Uggu:




Uggu Powder – 1 Tablespoon

Water or Milk – As Needed

Jaggery or Salt – As Needed for Taste

Ghee – 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method:

Take a vessel, add one tablespoon of Uggu powder and water or milk as needed and mix it well without lumps and add jaggery or salt as needed for taste. Now keep this vessel on stove, light it, and boil it until the mixture gets thick consistency that is suitable to feed baby. Now, switch off the stove and allow it to cool. After the mixture gets cool, transfer it into a clean feeding bowl and add one tablespoon of ghee. Now, yummy, tasty, and very healthy Uggu is ready to feed. Feeding it fresh is really healthy for babies.
