Today’s post is dedicated to people who appreciate the finer things. Wine is definitely a fine thing one can afford in life and only few people can afford some of the best and expensive wines in the world. So, for people who can afford them, here is a list of 6 most expensive wine brands you can get.
Some of the wines listed here can cost you a lifetime’s fortune. So, if you plan to buy any of these, make sure that you are either a multi-millionaire or at least married to one.
1) Screaming Eagle Cabernet (1992)
This is probably the most expensive wine you could get. The imperial six-liter wine bottle fetched a whopping $500,000. However, this bottle of wine was not available in the market. The bottle was auctioned at the Napa Valley Wine Auction in 2000 for charity purposes.
2) Shipwrecked Heidsieck (1907)
This bottled of champagne was originally a part of shipment to the imperial house of Russia, to the house of Tsar Nicholas II in the year 1916. However the ship that carried the bottles went down by a German torpedo (during World War I). The wrecked ship was discovered in 1998, so were about 2000 bottles of this champagne. The bottles were then sold at a novel price of $275,000 worldwide in different auctions.
3) Chateau Lafite (1869)
This definitely was one of the most expensive wine brands sold. The bottle was originally estimated to reach a value of $8,000, but was actually sold $233,972 to an Asian bidder in a 2010 auction. Naturally, the entire auction house was stunned. Apparently, Lafite is considered an absolute luxury and a much sought-after gift item in Asia.
4) Chateau Cheval Blanc (1947)
This merlot is one of the only two wines that have been given Class A status in the Saint-Emilion classification. The three-liter was previously owned by a Swiss collector and then sold in Vinfolio (San Francisco) in 2006 for a meager $135,125 (approximately $33,125 for 750 ml).
5) Chateau d’Yquem (1787)
This is a brand of white wine. You may know that white wine often sells at a lesser price than a red wine. However, this white wine was sold for a far bigger price than some of the expensive red wines. In fact, this bottle of Sauterne became the most expensive white wine sold till date. The bottle was sold for $117,000 to an American collector in 2006.
6) Chateau Mouton-Rothschild Jeroboam (1945)
Jeroboam of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, considered one of the greatest vintage of the last century was sold for a huge price of $114,614 to an anonymous bidder from Christie’s, London. This means that for each regular sized bottle (750 ml), you would have to shell out roughly $23,000. Not bad for a bottle of wine, eh?
Now that you have seen some of the most expensive wine brands, would you like to buy one of them? Cheers!!

Maybe that's why I'm not a big fan of wine. I never spring for the good stuff. This is really cool, hard to believe a bottle of anything can be worth that much.
