Born in London, I currently live and work in Accra, Ghana. I am a writer and creative entrepreneur.
If you are like me, you love your coffee but you love it cold, icy cold! I am obsessed with ice coffee but it can get really expensive if you buy your iced coffee from expensive coffee shops like Starbucks therefore, to save a few pennies, why not try your hand at making your own iced coffee at home? Here are some delicious recipes that anyone can make, all you need is some good quality coffee and a few other key ingredients and you're good to go!
Simple Vanilla Iced Coffee Recipe
Simple vanilla iced coffee is one of my favourites and for this recipe and all the recipes, I will be using a cold shot of espresso. You can use instant black coffee if you'd like or cold brew, it's up to you. A nice dark roast is also good too! Let's get into this!
1 shot of Espresso(more if you'd like) cooled
Milk of your choice (I use oat milk)
Vanilla syrup (as much as you'd like according to your taste)
Pour your coffee of choice over a tall glass of crushed ice. Add your milk and flavour with vanilla syrup. Enjoy!
Spicy Chai Iced Coffee
For this recipe you are going to need aromatic bitters, they really do take your coffee game to the next level. I like to use Calder Chai from Token Bitters, it adds a delicious flavour to this recipe.
1 shot espresso
Calder Chai Bitters (a couple of drops)
Milk of your choice
Pour your black coffee over crushed ice and add your milk. Add your Calder chai bitters and sweeten with unflavoured syrup.
Minty Choco Ice
This is another fave for me! I love it, it's delicious on a hot summer day.
1 shot of espresso
1 teaspoon dark natural cocoa powder
mint extract drops(a couple of drops)
milk of your choice
Pour 1/2 cup of hot water into a cup and add 1 tsp of cocoa powder into the cup and stir until dissolved, set aside to cool.
Pour 1 shot espresso over crushed ice
Add the mint drops
Add the cooled cocoa mixture
Flavour with syrup and enjoy!
Stay tuned for more delicious iced coffee recipes to try at home.
