Whether it's for your best friend or yourself, the most fun thing to do before baby arrives is to throw a big, fat party! But before you go spending a fortune on supplies, try making the food and decorations yourself!
Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Pretty in Pink Cocktail
Pour champagne over pink cotton candy for a beautiful bubbly beverage or ditch the champagne and just have lemonade.
Tutu Nail Polish
These are adorable favors. You'll need ribbon and small pieces of tulle. Cut to desired length and gather in the middle. Place around the nail polish to look like tutus.
Decorate the Mommy-to-Be's Chair
This is an awesome idea and you can be as creative as you like with this one, from adding a tiara to making a full-on throne!
This is a really cute idea for favors. You can literally let your guests pick the scents that they want!
Pink Pom Poms
Pom-poms add a fantastical and whimsical feel to your party and are really easy to make. There are dozens of tutorials available for this on youtube for example.
Shabby Chic Pink Mason Jar
Re-purpose Mason jars using paint for pretty shower centerpieces. Fill with ideas, hints, advice, and thoughts for mom.
String New Dresses From a Rope
What about asking guests to bring baby dresses? Each one can be strung carefully from a ribbon to make a lovely backdrop for photos as well as a neat wardrobe for baby.
Pink Ducky Punch
For this sweet drink you'll need:
- 2 frozen pink lemonade concentrate cans
- 1 two-liter bottle of club soda
- 4 bottles of sparkling apple juice
To make it foam, pop a couple pints of berry sherbet on top. And let's not forget to add the pink duckies!
Pink Cake Pops
Instead of cupcakes, try these interesting cake pops which can be made using your favorite packaged cake mixture and pretty sprinkles! They are fun to make and very handy to eat!
Pink White Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
Red food coloring added to white chocolate makes the perfect dip for juicy strawberries and makes them look even more delicious.
Prizes like pink lotions packaged with pretty bows make a fabulous favor or prize at your shower.
"She's About to Pop" Bubbly
Bottles of pink champagne with pink feather boas make the perfect prizes for your shower.
Bucket Full of Goodies
Spray-paint a bucket pink and fill it with goodies for mom-to-be. Have guests write sweet notes on the diapers and mom can read them when she's up in the middle of the night changing!
Simple Pink & White Trim
Simple pink & white trimmings are a fuss-free way to decorate the room. You could also use tulle on the mantel and make a tutu for the table!
Delicate decorations will really set your party alight, especially paper pom poms and horses.
Minnie Mouse Style
How cute are polka dots? The flower balloons are really simple to make with just plain pink balloons and one with a black and white polka dots for the center.
Up-Cycled Mason Jars and Coffee Cups
Use old containers and jazz them up with pink paper to make party favors. Buy the contents from the dollar store!
Make an adorable treat hamper with a basket and a paper Chinese lantern lamp shade to make it look like a hot air balloon.
Wine Bottle Centerpieces
Recycle old wine bottles by spray painting them white and fil with pink flowers for awesome centerpieces.
Pink Nail Polish Favors
Buy nail polish in different shades of pink and attach your own handmade thank you labels for thoughtful party favors.
Pink Balloons Inside Clear Ones
Double balloons—one inside the other—look beautiful as table decorations, especially when attached to sheer ribbon.
Pretzels dipped in different colored icings make a fun and convenient treat to eat. Package with matching bows for "wow" impact!
Spa Party Favors
Fill small square vases with glass beads, a nail polish, lotion, body wash, and nail file. Decorate with fake flowers, wrap in cellophane, and tie with ribbon for a final touch.
