REVEALED - Manga 629 Manga 675 [NEW] !

Update: NEW important details revealed in Manga 675! I'll just say... MADARA

- - - - >Madara reveals to Obito the Truth about Rin ! ! !< - - - -

Rin's death is finally revealed in Manga no. 629. How and why did Kakashi kill Rin is finally explained. The whole story and the truth which neither theory predicted! See what the theories failed to predict, but also how close they were to the truth. All this will be updated very soon with the new pictures from this manga and discussion why the theories failed and could we predict what happened?

Whole story with new details from Manga 675

Below is the older explanation, what we found out in Manga 629, but new details from Manga 675

indicate that Madara was involved and has planned everything out!

Here is the link to Manga where everything is explained

- - - - >Madara reveals to Obito the Truth about Rin ! ! !< - - - -

It turns out that it was Madara's plan to implant a Jinchuuriki inside Rin, not the Mist's. He controlled the Mist ninja. And he did all of this to get Obito to his dark side, and probably to get revenge on Leaf if Jinchuuriki from Rin was to be freed.

And yes, one of our theories was that Madara was involved! But the way in which it was done, with the Jinchuuriki planted in Rin was also predicted by some users on NarutoBase forum.

Well done to all!

The explanation from manga (you can also read it clicking on the image below):

Rin chose her own death by having Kakashi pierce her with his Raikiri.

First, Rin was kidnapped by the Mist village and made into Jinchuuriki of the Sanbi. Kakashi then managed to rescue her, but that was the Mist's plan in the first place. They even pretended to chase them to hurry them up to Leaf village. They were planning to unleash the Sanbi once Rin and Kakashi are back to Leaf, so it would attack the village.

Rin was aware of that, so when Kakashi attacked their pursuers with Raikiri, she decided to step in his way so that Kakashi would hit her instead. She decided to die by the hands of the one she loved - to protect the Leaf.

Obito under the collapsed stone

Obito under the collapsed stone

History of Team Minato

The members of Team Minato are Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, Rin Nohara and Minato Namikaze who will later become a Hokage. The team acted during The Third Great Ninja War and was given the mission to destroy the Kannabi Bridge in order to cut off the supplies for Hidden Stone village. The members of the team were two jounins - Minato and Kakashi, as well as two chuunins - Obito and RIn. To shorten the story, the team had to split up at the beginning of the mission because Minato had to go to the front lines on Kannabi Bridge. Rin was captured by the enemy from The Hidden Stone and later rescued by Kakashi and Obito, but Obito was crashed by the collapsing stones in the cave leaving Rin and Kakashi in belief that he's dead. He also left a message for Kakashi to protect Rin. After the two of them got out of the cave they found themselves surrounded by the enemies. In order to protect Rin, Kakashi lunged forward with Raikiri but ended passing out. In the next scene he wakes up next to Rin and Minato who explains that he appeared using his Marked kunai which he gave to Kakashi earilier. All of this is shown in Kakashi Gaiden - A boy's life on the battlefield.

On the last page of this manga (no. 244) we see Kakashi standing on the ruins of a bridge and Minato and Rin standing up front which is the first interesting fact.

The facts

As I said in the introduction, I will point out the facts that we have by now, so it is very important that we find out as much as we can and try to collect all the facts and details that may be connected with the theme, maybe that will lead us to the thruth behind why Kakashi killed Rin. I will write down facts in numbered order explaining below why it is connected to the topic. If you remember of something you may find interesting write it down in comments.

So the first fact is the one that I mentioned above.

1. Rin standing alongside Minato on the ruined Kannabi Bridge

This means that Rin's death happened after the battle of Kannabi Bridge, but this opens a question "Where was Minato at that time?" - when Obito and Zetsu's clone run to find them, Zetsu says that Minato is probably on another mission, so it may be that he went on another battelfield while Rin and Kakashi were returning to Konoha, or the incident happened during another mission, but then if he was sent on another mission, Kakashi and Rin would probably be assigned with a new team member unless it is some kind of a secret mission. (maybe Kakashi was supposed to protect Rin and escort her somewhere, however this can be very interesting to discuss)

2. Obito first imagines that Rin is stabbed

As we have seen through the series, Japanese are pretty much superstitious and consider omens of good and bad luck important, so this is probably just that, a sign that something bad will happen.

3. Kakashi and Rin are attacked by MIST ninja

This is also interesting, because in the battle of Kannabi Bridge, Team Minato is fighting against Hidden Stone ninja, but this time they are surronded by Mist whose Mizukage (Yagura) was controlled by Madara. So Madara could easily order them to ambush Kakashi and Rin in order to get Obito on his side which seems like a well justified reason. I thought this could be the possible scenario but I have to rule out this option because of this: Kisame, Tobi - 4th Mizukage. Apparently, the man Kisame earlier saw controlling Yagura was Obito, although he presented himself as Madara.

4. Zetsu talks about guniea pigs from Mist

This is the most important fact. The Mist village was called Bloody Mist because of its brutal politics with other villages, but also the cruel methods done on their village members. They often didn't care sacrifising their own ninjas for the purpose of mission success or making their ninjas stronger by killing their emotions. It is also known that they have done experiments on their ninjas, so what Zetsu says about guinea pigs is probably an experiment.

5. Is Rin a spy?

After Kakashi stabbed Rin, a Mist ninja says "At least retrieve the woman, we mustn't let the enemy get her body!!" and also "S... he got us, after we worked so hard to get it!". Including the previous fact it is almost certain that RIn was a Mist ninja, the guinea pig Zetsu was talking about.

7. Kakashi and Obito awakening Mangekyou

Probably doesn't seem so interesting, but it may be. After Obito awakened Mangekyou he could also use Kamui right away, but it is probably because he got Hashirama's cells. As for Kakashi, he got Mangekyou after he killed Rin, considering that Rin was also a genjutsu user, she could have purposely placed Kakashi under a genjutsu and made him kill her in order to gain more power. He was a fast ninja as well, he could have a chance to run away from the enemy, but since Rin wasn't so fast, he couldn't leave her.

8. "It's because you let Rin die"

Obito didn't say "Because you killed Rin", so he doesn't blame Kakashi for killing her, but for not being able to save her. Also when Obito tells Kakashi that he is trash and when Kakashi remebers Rin's death, he tells Obito to forgive him for "not being able to save Rin". It probably means that Kakashi didn't kill Rin on purpose, but was forced to and also means that they both know something more that wasn't showed to us in the manga, but is yet to be revealed.

Theories: Senju, Orochimaru, experiments...

1) A spy

Kakashi and Rin were on a research mission supposed to collect some data about enemy. Rin then reveals to Kakashi that she is a spy from the Mist village, but isn't able to deliever her mission thoroughly. Although she was sent on a spying mission to Konoha as a kid and was taught to kill her emotions, the connections she made in Team Minato are real. She then tells Kakashi that they will soon be ambushed by Mist ninjas who will kill Kakashi and bring Rin along. She reveals her true emotions to Kakashi and tries to convice him to kill her in order to save the info about village. Kakashi makes Chidori but is still unsure what to do. He can't kill his comrade. But it's too late, they are suddenly surrounded by Mist ninjas. In an instant, Rin uses Kakashi's indecisivness and rushes forward to his arm wrapped in lightning...

Although many people agree that Rin was a spy and this theory explains Kakashi's criying after he stabbed Rin and many other things, it doesn't explain everything. First, why would she make Kakashi kill her - she could have done it herself? And why would she be buried in Konoha if she is a spy?

2) Madara

Madara sounded pretty confident when he told Obito he would come back and thank him sincerely. Also, Zetsu was the one who informed Obito about the whole event, he even let him use his body. So Madara in some moment puts Obito under a genjutsu - it may explain why Obito first saw false image of Rin stabbed or according to other theories it could be that he just for the moment saw through Kakashi's eye. Anyway, Madara made Obito see Rin's death. Then he goes through a mental breakout and loses all his hopes in this world which leaves he no other option than to believe in Madara's idea of "Infinite Tsukuyomi" world. So he decides to carry out this, just as Madara planned.

It seem reasonable to think that Madara is involved because after all he benefited the most from that situation. However, this doesn't seem to be the good answer because from the speaking of Kakashi and Obito we see that they both think Rin is dead and that it is Kakashi's fault. Also, this theory doesn't explain earlier facts about Mist ninjas and guinea pigs. So maybe Madara wasn't involved after all, he was just disappointed in this world and thought that Obito will be too?

3) The Last Senju

Rin Nohara was one of the last Senju. Knowing that during war the enemy wants to use every adventage and considering that Rin almost died during last mission, Konoha superiors, including Hiruzen and Danzo, stated that it would be too dangerous for her to be in the village during war since the enemy might want to capture her and use Senju DNA. So, Kakashi was assigned a top-secret mission - to protect Rin and escort her to somewhere saf, maybe to Tsunade - the other Senju. Danzo made it clear to Kakashi to kill Rin if he couldn't protect her from the enemies, because otherwise enemy would use her precious DNA. Unfortunately Mist ninjas found out about the mission and ambushed them, forcing Kakashi to do the inevitable.

4) Orochimaru and experiments

It seems that Rin is a very valuable character, first to Obito and Kakashi, and later to Mist village. So the question is, what makes her so valuable? If she was a spy from Mist, maybe she would have found a way to send the information continuosely from Konoha and why would her memorial lay in Konoha then? It seems that lately, before her death, she found out something important that the Mist needed. Also consider that this is the time when Minato was chosen as the Fourth Hokage and not Orochimaru, which raises his hatred towards the village and he soon after leaves Konoha. This is the theory: As a medical ninja, Rin helped Orochimaru in some of his experiments while he was in the village. But as the time passed, Rin noticed that something's wrong with Orochimaru, his experiments were becoming much more dangerous and he was more obsessed with the idea of learning all jutsus. Things warmed up when Orochimaru developed some new tehnique - possibly cursed seal or secrets of Reanimation jutsu. That was enough for Rin - she leaves. But not long after, Orochimaru leaves the vilage disappointed for not being chosen as new Hokage. The information about his recent work spreads and Mist village, always ready to try new, dangerous methods wants to use the information Orochimaru knows on their ninjas. They found out that Rin was also in his team, so they choose to capture her and bring her with them to drain the info out. So when they ran on Kakashi and her, she told Kakashi not to leave her to them, but not being able to fully protect her and kill the enemies, Kakashi brings a painful, regretful decision to kill her.

Was Rin a spy?

One of the most epic side stories in a manga. Naruto fans need a worthy game. Not to discredit ultimate ninja...

ehunter237 on January 23, 2014:

Some time after the events at Kannabi Bridge, Rin was kidnapped by Kirigakure and made the jinchÅ«riki of Isobu in order to have her be rescued so the tailed beast could be let loose within Konoha.[2] To ensure the plan's success, various jÅnin and ANBU-level Kirigakure shinobi were sent to feign chasing them so that their return to the village would be hastened. Knowing this, Rin requested Kakashi to kill her to protect the village. Though Kakashi refused, Rin later intercepted Kakashi's Chidori, which was meant to hit a Kiri-nin, impaling herself on his hand. The Kiri-nin made an attempt to retrieve her corpse before leaving, but were stopped by an enraged Obito who had awoken his MangekyÅ Sharingan after witnessing the events.[6]

Rcabl12345 on January 17, 2014:

well, obito did mumble her name continuously during his sleep, maybe madara knew that he would go to rescue her had she been in trouble, so for him to have obitos "true gratitude" he somehow had rin captured and the ambush set up and made rin believe she was a threat to the leaf which lead her to believe it would be best to have kakashi kill her which as obito arrived she ran into kakashi's chidori. maybe madara had this planned out in order to awaken obito's mangekyo sharingan. madara had previously told obito he would be allowed to leave but without his eye so i don't see why madara would let him leave to save his comrades unless he knew rin was going to be killed. in order for obito to be effective he had to upgrade his sharingan.. madara did tell the zetsu to get obito up and running maybe this was part of it.

I think that you are correct but no way she was unloyal to the leaf. Kakashi though probably did it so she dosent go to to the leaf or kakashi did it cause she told him to

@animepan: Yes, exactly. She wanted to die before she came to village because then the Mist would unleash Sanbi and try to destroy Konoha. Since she didn't want that, she decied to be killed by Kakashi and run into his Raikiri

animepan on October 02, 2013:

Did Rin Nohara wanted to die to save The Hidden Leaf Village then herself?!

anonymous on August 14, 2013:

Rin was killed by Kakashi because he deduced that she was the Sanbi Jinchuriki using his sharingan. He was able to see the Chakra of the Sanbi in her due to his eye's ability to see chakra. When he inflicted the wound and actually looked at her dying body he actually knew what he had done.

anonymous on May 10, 2013:

I think that Rin was a spy of the mist village but she bonded with them nonetheless, so she couldn't sell them out, because they were too important. On the other hand she knew Mist ninjas were coming, and she knew that they would force out the secrets from here(since as stated back, they were very cruel and ruthless) and kill Kakashi. Not wanting to pass information that might get the Leaf destroyed and Kakashi killed, she urged kakashi to kill her. When he was reluctant and the Mist ninja came, she took advantage of Kakashi being distraught and pushed herself in his Lighting Blade. Seeing that Madara controlled the Mizukage, he knew about what was going to happen to Rin and Kakashi, so he made Zetsu show Obito the scene to fulfill his plans and obtain Obito's body and his newfound Mongekyou Sharingan. Rin sacrificed herself to protect herself bond with her comrades and save the Hidden Leaf, thus showing the true meaning of the Will Of Fire of Konoha, and by that her name was deserved to be written on the monument.

anonymous on May 01, 2013:

@anonymous: Yes he is. He just said he was Madara. He is actually Obito.

anonymous on May 01, 2013:

I think think that Rin was one of Orochimaru's test subjects that lived just like Yamato. The mist wanted Rins DNA to recreate Orochimarus experiments in the mist.

Or maybe since Madra was in control of the Mizukage, Madra wanted to recreate the experiments to make his own wood style user.

anonymous on April 28, 2013:

so is this masked madara actually obito?

anonymous on April 24, 2013:

So my theory is that Madara put a genjutsu on Kakashi. Madara, being able to control the 4th Mizukage much like Obito, had the Mist ninja attack Kakashi and Rin to create a background. Then he put Kakashi under a genjutsu to make him kill Rin at just the right time. That would cover the fact that Madara was sure Obito would be back, and the fact that Zetsu called the mist ninja " Guinea Pigs". Also the fact that Obito and Kakashi agreed that he "let" her die.

anonymous on April 22, 2013:

What if there was another twist in the plot, and Sakura was related to rin! :O

anonymous on April 15, 2013:

Madara had kakashi under a genjutsu?

anonymous on April 14, 2013:

@anonymous: Well Honestyl i have read all of the theories and i do have to say this one sounds to me the most like masashi kishimoto, however i, after reading this page don't quite know if i want to know the answer to the question of why did kakashi kill rin. it seems to me that if i find out the real reason why i would be disappointed in the answer masashi gives us. i feel as if the information, kakashi kills rin, was given to explain obito's anger and that there is no reason currently thought up by masashi. if we force him into explaining it i fear we will not like the answer. maybe it's just me though.

OpenThis (author) on April 06, 2013:

@anonymous: Ninjas who interrogated her were from Rock, so if she was a Mist ninja, she wouldn't let them get the information. But for the other thing, I agree with you, there are some contradictions with her being a spy.

As for the other part of the post, if only Konoha at that time had medical ninjas, that information may be very important, I would like to know where did you find that? Also, it is good to look at those who got most benefit from the situation(as you mentioned Madara, maybe Orochimaru) because in the past episodes we saw that they are usually ones behind the curtain. I will add a new module with new theories submitted by users, so I will add this one if we check that information about medical ninjas. Thanks for sharing your opinion

anonymous on April 04, 2013:

I don't really buy Rin being a spy. There are too many contradictions. Too many possibilities. First off, Rin knew Kakashi well enough to know that the Kakashi of then would outright kill her if she confessed to being a spy. He had things to prove back then...he had his father's shadow to wrestle out from under, so he would not have hesitated (at that time) to destroy a potential threat to the village and Rin was one of the people who knew that the best. Also, in an off note made about her, it states that Rin refused to give up Konoha secrets, even while she was under a genjutsu. Had she truly been a spy, she could have easily used that as a means of transmitting the material for her mission. Her feelings may have played an integral role in the interactions of the team, but there are too many inconsistencies, and not enough functioning brain matter in my head at the moment, for me to take this suggestion seriously. I DO however agree that there was something about Rin that Mist wanted very, VERY badly and to be honest, after seeing the way things play out, I would not be surprised if Madara AND Orochimaru had something to do with Rin's demise. Also, it's a good possibility that Kakashi, and ultimately Obito, were both put under a genjutsu to see Kakashi kill Rin. It could have been something totally different, but because of the possibility of the genjutsu (which madara AND orochimaru excel at mind you) they are not certain what happened for sure. Rin could have revealed the truth of the circumstances right before her death and Kakashi blames himself for being unable to save her.

anonymous on April 04, 2013:

@OpenThis: It is entirely possible that the reason for Mist wanting Rin was because of her abilities as a medic. From all of my research, Konoha was the only village with decent medical ninja during the third war. It is entirely possible that they wanted her to either train their ninja (which would require then to put her under some kind of duress) or take the medical knowledge from her via interrogators. Even dead, they may have had someone who could take the knowledge from her mind.

OpenThis (author) on March 28, 2013:

How do you know she was a valuable asset for Leaf, I mean where did you find the information?

anonymous on March 27, 2013:

Well lets think about it.... if she is a senju wouldn't she naturally belong to the leaf? i honestly don't think she was a spy due to that information. But what i do gather is that she was a valuable asset to the leaf and she knew that her self, so when the mist ran into them she came to the decision of dying rather than letting the leafs assetd fall into another villages hands

anonymous on March 23, 2013:

@anonymous: I don't think that Rin was surprised that Kakashi killed her. After all, she knew that he would since she asked him to do it.

OpenThis (author) on March 21, 2013:

@anonymous: I agree with your explanations. I was thinking about adding a new theory, the one based on voting results and people's comments, something like a collective theory. It would then be based on "Rin is a spy, but couldn't sell out the Leaf", so I wondered what are the reasons she couldn't kill herself, and thought about some genjutsu restraining her and something else, but I like your explanation more. Thanks for sharing your point of view at this! Hope you like the page!

OpenThis (author) on March 21, 2013:

@anonymous: Yes, she was in love with him, but I weren't able to link that with her death. Any ideas?

OpenThis (author) on March 21, 2013:

@anonymous: Maybe it's possible, Orochimaru showed that you can't write him off. But what do you think why would he place the curse?

anonymous on March 20, 2013:

I think that Rin was a spy, but the bonds created through the leaf caused her not to sell out.

I think this argument "Although many people agree that Rin was a spy and this theory explains Kakashi's criying after he stabbed Rin and many other things, it doesn't explain everything. First, why would she make Kakashi kill her - she could have done it herself? And why would she be buried in Konoha if she is a spy?" can be explained. Similar to how Sai is unable to talk about Danzo, Rin could also have a seal on her making her unable to kill herself. Also, she is probably buried in Konoha because the only person who knew she was a spy was Kakashi and Obito.

I also had another theory where Rin was a spy, but she did not know herself until a certain time, perhaps under some type of genjutsu? However, once the genjutsu wore off and she realized she was a spy, her feelings for the Leaf made her unable to go back to the mist. That is probably why the mist ninjas didn't want Rin's body to be taken by the leaf, otherwise the leaf could have done some sort of autopsy to figure out what type of genjutsu the Mist did to Rin

anonymous on March 20, 2013:

Well, the real reason Kakashi killed Rin is still a mystery. Rin was actully in love with Kakashi for her last words were "Kakashi." Obito also gave his sharingon to Kakashi.

OpenThis (author) on February 27, 2013:

@anonymous: Yes, you are right. But I found this theory like a nice idea, so wanted to mention it. What do you think, why was Rin so important, even not alivie?

OpenThis (author) on February 27, 2013:

@anonymous: Yes, most people agree that she wasn't a spy, but also they don't know why KAKASHI had to kill her and why Obito isn't mad because of that, but instead of "letting her die"

anonymous on February 27, 2013:

Just to clarify, Rin wasn't a Senju. There has never been any mention of her being of the Senju bloodline, not in the manga nor in any handbooks. So that theory is out.

anonymous on February 20, 2013:

@OpenThis: i believe this will be explained after or during the war

anonymous on February 18, 2013:

Well it has to be something about her that is important enough to send DOZENS OF JOUNIN AND ANBU to capture her. And apparently dead or alive as they said "at least retrieve the womans body." So, they can still do it with or without her breathing?

anonymous on February 17, 2013:

I don't think that she was a spy because she was pretty shocked and those Mist people were like damn he killed her right when we had her. I think that maybe she was someone that couldn't be captured or something, so Kakashi had to kill her.

anonymous on February 13, 2013:

Just a little thing I noticed, Rin is surprised when she is stabbed by Kakashi (don't know if that really means anything though) or at least acts like it. Or shock.

OpenThis (author) on February 09, 2013:

@anonymous: Thanks, I agree with you. This is the most interesting mystery in series, and everyone wants to know what happened because neither theory explains everything. I think that we still have little information and cannot yet know what exactly happened. I just hope that Kishi planned it all out long time ago, and has some good reasoning behind everything. Let's hope he won't disappoint us :)

anonymous on February 09, 2013:

Very interesting theories. Out of all the ones I've read so far (both here and elsewhere) Rin being a spy makes the most sense. But if she was a spy and had grown fond of Konoha and her connections there why did she go wherever she and Kakashi were? And like you mentioned, why did she have Kakashi kill her and not kill herself? I also don't see the point in Rin dying and Kakashi leaving if all they needed was her body, either way they would get their hands on whatever secrets Rin had that they wanted. I think she didn't even know herself that she was a spy until she and Kakashi were in that clearing, and something led Kakashi to kill her or her thrusting herself into his Chidori which would also explain why Obito blames Kakashi for not being able to save her.

I'm kind of frustrated we *still* haven't gotten a definite answer on what happened, I'm still dying to find out.

OpenThis (author) on February 04, 2013:

@anonymous: I'm not sure about that because these information are based on latest manga.. It would be nice if you could find what you saw and share with us
