The Top Ten Best Costumes from Game of Thrones from Season 1
Game of Thrones was popular HBO series based on the the very popular book series, A Song of Fire and Ice. The show was richly produced with stunning sets and gorgeous costumes.
Season One follows the first book of the series called "A Game of Thrones." This season set the standard for the show's style and tone and was consider one the best seasons of the show. Remember back when this show was good?
This List looks at the Top Ten Best Female Costumes from Game of Thrones Season one. The other seasons will get their own Page.

Lysa Arryn, Lady of the Vale
Lysa, played by Kate Dickie, wears a costume that’s in fashion of the Vale.
Her costume is green when we first meet her in her castle, The Eyrie. It’s composed of a green mantle that has a high neckline and false sleeves. The under-garment has a print and the sleeves are fabric sewn to the armhole and attach to a cuff at the wrist making the arms exposed. She also wears a brooch at her chest.
It’s an odd costume which makes it’s interesting and gives the Vale a distinct look to its fashion sense.
Daenerys' Pink Pentos Gown
The first time we meet Daenerys, played by Emilia Clarke, she is wearing this pink gown. It’s in a style that is more commonly seen with characters who are from Essos, the continent east of Westros.
Since the climate of Pentos is warm this costume has a loose airy to its construction. It has a drawstring neckline and the fabric in the back is gathered. This costume has a beautiful shape to it and a lovely color.
Daenerys also wears this costume in the second episode when she is riding with the Dothraki horde.
Sansa grey Tourney Gown
Sansa, played by Sophie Turner, wears this grey gown which is the style of Winterfell, her ancestral home. to a tourney.
It's has a rough texture to the fabric. Fabric roses trim the scoop neckline. There are also gold flowery appliques around the neckline.
She wears this costume episode four and in episode eight when she caught by the Hound after her father's household is arrested for supposed treason.
Cersei's Green Throne Room Gown
Queen Regent Cersei, played by Lena Headey, wears this green gown when she demands that Lord Eddard Stark to swear fealty to her son, King Joffrey, which he does not.
It’s composed of a simple green gown with long false sleeves. The Sleeves have a leaf pattern. The dress has a dramatic beaded necklace.The beads are for the most part are purple and the way it’s strung it looks more like armor than jewelry, which is very in character for Cersei.
Cersei's Pink Throne Room Gown
As Sansa pleas for mercy for her father Eddard Stark, Cersei wears this pinkish-taupe gown.
This gown has the King’s Landing style of looking sort of like a Kimono with bell sleeves.
The trim is gold which matches the appliques on her sleeves. The gown is finished with a heavy beaded stands that falls from her neck.
It’s a soft pretty gown which is a foil to Cersei’s nature.
Daenerys' Grey Translucent Gown
Daenerys is forced into marrying a Dothraki horse lord, Khal Drogo to aid her brother's ambition for the Iron Throne. When she meets the Kahl for the first time she is wearing this taupe yet translucent gown.
It has a sheath silhouette. It’s a simple gown but the sleeves detail of sheer white fabric is quite lovely.
She wears pin brooches at her shoulders that have dragons on them which is the sigil of her house.
The very sheer fabric makes her look very vulnerable and powerless.
Daenerys as a Khaleesi
After being married to Khal Drogo, Daenerys adapts to life as a Dothraki Khaleesi.
She starts wearing Dothraki grab as she assimilates into her new power in the horde.
The fabric is rough and dull in color but she looks powerful and strong and in her new position she grows into a strong young women and leader.
Cersei at Ned Strak's Execution
As Cersei's son, Joffrey is executing Eddard Stark, she is wearing a maroon gown with long hanging false sleeves. The sleeves have a lion which is the sigil of her house, embroidered on them.
The gown has cowl neckline. She wears a leather belt and her lion necklace.
She looks very stately and powerful but unfortunately against her advice her son has Eddard Stark behead which leads to war.
Cersei wears a very similar gown during the Tourney in episode four.
Sansa's Blue Gown at Ned Strak's Execution
As Sansa begs her betrothed, King Joffrey, for mercy for her father, Eddard Stark, and while she watches her betrothed execute him she wears ths soft blue gown.
The gown is in the King’s Landing style. It has a kimono neckline, bell sleeves and a-line skirt.
The skirt is silver with a subtle print. It has an applique at the waist as well as two ties. Also at the waist is a silver belt. The belt is not wore during her plea but at the execution. It’s a pretty and quite feminine gown.
She has a pink gown that is almost identical to this gown which she wears when Joffrey shows her her father’s head.
Daenerys' Wedding Gown
Daenerys’ wedding gown is a silver halter gown with a sheath silhouette. The gown has a wrapping at the bodice. She wears a pin brooch on her bodice which has dragons on it. She also wears armlets with fabric come off of them.
The gown is simple but it’s very beautiful.
She also wears this gown in the final episode of season 1 when she enters the fire of Khal Drogo’s pyre in the season finale.
