Most Romantic Love Songs From the Year 2000 Onwards

"The best love songs of the 21st century" may be a sweeping statement, but I believe that this collection of modern, romantic proclamations say exactly what you want to say to that someone special in your life.

Not only are they great to play as a first dance at a wedding reception or as a party's last dance, but also during an intimate Valentine's evening for two.

You may disagree with these specific choices, but you can't disagree with the sentiment. If you happen to have your own special love song from this century, let us know further down the page.

All of Me: John Legend

Quite possibly the most romantic song of the 21st century so far is this piano ballad by American singer, John Legend.

Reportedly inspired by his wife Chrissy Teigen, this simple but effective composition is destined to be heard at wedding receptions for a long time to come.

How Long Will I Love You? Ellie Goulding

Originally recorded by the Scottish band the Waterboys in 1990, British singer Ellie Goulding updated the song and released her lilting version of How Long Will I Love You? in 2013.

Hero: Enrique Iglesias

Although other uses and meanings have been attributed to this song, it is simply a top tune about becoming a hero for (or to) your significant other.

It suggests the creation of an unbreakable bond through the promise of doing anything for someone you love.

Need You Now: Lady Antebellum

A beautiful song about the ups and downs of love in a relationship.

Full of pathos, regret, loneliness and yearning, Need You Now will make you hold your significant other even closer.

Make You Feel My Love: Adele

An astoundingly sensitive version of this Bob Dylan song, Adele stirs the soul and adds a very different take on it.

One that I can imagine will be used on any occasion that calls for some true romance.

You're Beautiful: James Blunt

James Blunt wrote this song about an ex-girlfriend, so it's obviously a really personal composition with lyrics about a moment which meant a great deal to him.

However, over time, it has been adapted for occasions with the promise of a more positive outcome.

Chasing Cars: Snow Patrol

This is simply a beautifully tender love song about getting lost in time with the one you love.

Essentially, you need nothing else but each other. Really, nothing else matters...

Just the Way You Are: Bruno Mars

Not the Billy Joel song, but Bruno Mars' lyrically classic love song about his girl.

Let Her Go: Passenger

A truly emotive track which singer Mike Rosenberg says encompasses two meanings: the first is literal, following a breakup and about letting her go. The second, bigger idea is more about not really understanding or knowing what you have until it is gone.

Grow Old With Me: Tom Odell

Written when he was just 22 years old, this was Tom Odell's fourth single from his debut album and released in the autumn of 2013.

As the title suggests, the protagonist has found his true love and wishes to spend the rest of his life with her. Not a new message, but it is sensitively handled.
