Early Life and Career

Shruti Rajalakshmi Haasan was born on January 28, 1986 in Chennai, India. She is the daughter of South Indian superstar Kamal Haasan and actress Sarika Thakur (better known as just Sarika).

Like her father, Shruti is a multi-talented performer, working as a singer, model, actress, and composer. Starting out early, she performed her first song at the age of six in her father's film, Thevar Magan. In 2000, she acted in the bilingual Tamil-Hindi film directed by her father, Hey Ram.

Shruti Haasan: Actress

Shruti's first acting role as an adult was in the 2009 Bollywood drama, Luck. She has also been in successful Tamil and Hindi films such as Balupu, Ramayya Vasthavayya, Yevadu, and Race Gurram.

Shruti's Musical Career

Shruti is also a singer. In 2002 she was a playback singer in the film En Mana Vaanil and in 2008 for Gautham Menon's Tamil romance, Vaaranam Aayriam. She was nominated for Filmfare and SIIMA awards for Best Female Playback Singer for her work in the Hindi-Tamil film, 3.

In 2009, Shruti composed the music for the Tamil film, Unnaipol Oruvan, a remake of the Hindi film A Wednesday!
