Your Very Own Magnum Jungle Bird Hawaiian Shirt
Magnum's Hawaiian Shirt. Yes, this is it and yes, you can still obtain a reproduction of the famous Jungle Bird shirt. The original shirt that Magnum wore and made famous is of course locked up safely in the Smithsonian Institute but you can have a replica, made by the original creators of the shirt, Paradise Found. This red patterned shirt is called The Jungle Bird.
If you are reading this page, you probably know who Magnum, P.I. was but, just in case, let me give you the facts in brief. Magnum was a fictional private investigator from a CBS television show. He lived in O'ahu, Hawai'i and his show aired from 1980 to 1988.
When Magnum P.I. originally aired in prime time, it was one of the top-rated shows on television in the United States. It was a lighthearted action show with the characters a bit goofy but generally good.
Women loved Tom Selleck. Men enjoyed the show as well, perhaps in part because of the bikini clad ladies.
Of course, some men even wanted to look like Magnum.
On this page will find a bit of information about the shirt, a YouTube video showing the opening of the television program, more information about Magnum and the opportunity to obtain the shirt for yourself or for someone you know who was a fan of Magnum, P.I. If your man loved this show and always wanted the Jungle Bird Hawaiian shirt, here is the perfect opportunity!
You will find a whole host of reproductions of the shirts that Tom Selleck wore as Magnum P.I. from Calla Lily Purple to Dragonfly Black to Jungle Bird Black to, of course, the Jungle Bird in red.
Reviewer Gustaf Larsson says that he really likes his shirt, that it is good quality and actually calls it "the real McCoy." He goes on to recommend washing it in cold water with gentle soap and even a cool iron to make it last as long as possible.
Another reviewer writing as APS from Germany said that he's a big fan of Magnum P.I. and that wearing this shirt is just plain fun. He says it is cotton, with beautiful color and he echo's Gustaf's comments, calling it the real deal. He closes with: "Grow a mustache, let your hair go nuts and find a way to get a Ferrari." Sounds like a good plan to me! Well, maybe not the mustache part.

"If you can think of anybody who you think btteer symbolizes the Pepsi GMT-Master than Tom Selleck, please let me know!?!"...I've always thought of Chuck Yeager and the GMT. To me, GMT = pilot's watch. Great blog by the way.

Is he really 64??? Man, the boy is getting old, but he still looks pretty good for an old man. I can only hope I look so good at that age as long as I even make it to that age. Of course, growing up in the 80s I was a huge fan of the show. A lot had to do with the Ferrari as well.
Sandy Mertens from Frozen Tundra on June 08, 2009:

Oh, wow, wow, and WOW! We loved Magnum, the show, Tom Selleck, and the shirt! This is so awesome! My son, who was born during the years Magnum, P.I. was on TV, had a Hawaiian print shirt and he would put on sunglasses and dress up as Magnum. Can you imagine that, a kid under age 4? (Who were his parents, anyway??) I’d love to get one of these shirts for both him and my husband. I might just have to do that. I’m so glad you made this lens!
Ruth Coffee from Zionsville, Indiana on May 01, 2009:
I never watched the show, but I can still say he would definitely make it worth the time to see!
Andy-Po on May 01, 2009:

Oh be still my heart! I was in love with Tom Selleck before he was Magnum - he was the Marlboro Man and he looked so sexy on those huge billboards! I never missed Magnum P.I. and I have purchased this shirt for my hubby. He wears it proudly and I tell him how handsome he is every time he wears it.
