Disney Pixar's "Up" Will Make You Feel Good

Disney Pixar's Up is Perfect

In 2009, Disney Pixar released Up, an animated comedy that touched the hearts of everyone who watched it and made people laugh too. I saw this film with my daughter and husband, and we laughed, cried, and enjoyed it. Unlike many Pixar movies that are laugh out loud funny, this movie pulls at your heart strings..

Meet Carl Fredricksen

In the film, Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner) is an elderly man who has lost his wife and companion. He is also on the verge of losing the home he shared with his wife as well. Unable to deal with losing anything else in his life, Carl creates a plan that will allow him to keep his home and keep a promise to his deceased wife.

Carl's Plan is Nearly Ruined by Russell

As Carl is about to pull off his plan, he is visited by a young wilderness explorer named Russell (Jordan Nagi). Russell is just as stubborn as Carl and refuses to leave Carl's front porch. The reason Russell is fixated on Carl is that the young boy is working towards his "helping the elderly badge." In Russell's eyes, Carl is an excellent candidate. Unfortunately for Russell, his timing is terrible. He ends up being drawn into Carl's plan to save his home and keep a promise to his wife.

Carl and Russell become Partners

Although reluctant to work together, unexpected circumstances require Carl and Russell to partner up. While working together, both Carl and Russell develop a fondness for each other that neither expected.

My Personal Recommendation

I would recommend this movie to anyone young, old, or somewhere in between. In fact, this animated film is a great movie to watch with a variety of generations at the same time. To find out what Carl's mission is and if Russell finally gets the badge he needs, you'll have to watch the movie.

Will there be a Sequel to UP?

Fans love or hate sequels. So, when studios are deciding whether they should or shouldn't create one, they try to gauge what audiences want and expect from the next movie in a franchise.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there will be an UP sequel. If you think about it, it makes sense. Carl was an aging senior who had one last thing to do on his bucket list. He bonded with Russell and played an important part in the young man's life.

If a sequel came into play, it would probably include Carl's death. It is the perfect choice for a sequel, but one that no one would probably want to see.

It was a great film. We bought it for our granddaughter to watch, thinking we would be bored, but no, the film kept everyone's interest from start to finish and there are some really great scenes in it. The ending is fantastic and I'm glad you didn't give it away! LOL

I don't even remember who Dug was (the dog, I suppose :-) ) but I loved this movie when I saw it a couple of years ago. The animation quality is so fantastic in all Pixar films.
