Elsie is a music lover, have been singing in my home most of my life, my home wouldn't be home without music filling my day.
This little article is about one of my all time country singers Kenny Rogers, an American music idol whether it's pop, country or gospel singing I enjoy listening to his voice.
He also wrote a book which was released in October 2012 "Luck or Something Like it" A Memoir about his ups and downs in his musical career which is very interesting.
Kenny Rogers has well and truly earned his place in the Country Music Hall of Fame in the fall of 2013.
2013 has been a great year for Kenny Rogers, has released an album "You Can't Make Old Friends" it was wonderful hearing Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers singing together again, it brought back memories and a chill up my spine like it used to many years ago.
His first country album since 2006, those two singers are like magic together, what a great way to go in 2013, hopefully, he has many years yet, but as Kenny Rogers said, "you never know it may be my last".
Which after all these years with more than 120 hit singles, and sold over 130 million records worldwide, he has sure made a hit in the music scene, yes he is one of my idols in country singing and I hope yours.
I have some very special memories of Kenny Rogers songs, and one of them was at my first grandson's wedding, that day we had a karaoke evening, one of my sons got up and sung "The Gambler" I was so surprised I didn't know he could sing like that, but that voice is still in my memories of a wonderful occasion, I will never forget.
It is nearly 30 years since Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton had the Numbers 1 song in the nation with "Islands in the Stream" and like all songs that Kenny sings, it doesn't really matter who he sings with it is a real bounce in anyone's life.
I have many tapes of his songs, I may need to do something about them as they are deteriorating with not being used.
Retirement time is coming for Kenny Rogers
On Sept. 25, 2015, Rogers announced on NBC's "Today" show that he is releasing a Christmas album in 2015 and will embark on a farewell retirement tour for 2016.
Kenny Rogers - The Gambler.
One of my old time favorites, I can listen to this one many times and not tire of it, just love that voice.
This is a great way to end a career in music by getting together and recording a song with one of his favorite country gals Dolly Parton as their friendship has been captured and lasted for many decades and hopefully many more to follow..
Kenny Rogers is a perfect male country superstar, I love spreading his latest recording with Dolly Parton, it has caught my heart with love for both of them.

"Then I Miss You" is a somewhat obscure track from the Edition days and a personal favorite.

I was fortunate back in the 80s that I was Assistant to the Entertainment Director of a local newspaper. I went to many of the shows here in Vegas, and met many of the stars. Kenny Rogers was one of them, and I almost melted on the floor when he took my hand in both of his and looked down at me with those baby blues, and said, "Hi Nancy, I'm so glad to meet you." I will never forget it...still don't know how I got through the moments of small talk that followed. He was wonderful, sweet and kind. I've never met Dolly, but I did meet another of Kenny's female co-stars, Dottie West. They did "Every Time Two Fools Collide," and like you, it still sends shivers up my spine. Love your lens and the fact that you also love Kenny Rogers!
