Keira Knightley has starred in a great number of movies. Here are some of the greatest movies in which the actress has appeared. A lot of them earned her accolades for her great performances. Among them you will find a smash hit Bend It Like Beckham, the football-themed film that earned her worldwide recognition. And of course we can´t forget about Pirates of The Caribbean, her first big-budget blockbuster movie, after which she became the breakout star.
1. The Imitation Game
The screenplay of the movie is based on the biography of the mathematician, cryptanalyst Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch), who helps crack the Enigma code in World War II. The Enigma machine is used by the German armed forces to send messages securely and the Nazis change the encoding every day. The matematician tries to find people that can help him in this unbelievebly difficalt task. It happens that Joan Clarke (Keira Knightley) becomes one of those people.
Fascinating story, beautifully acted by the cast. We have to know more about our hero, the hero of the Second World War and the father of all computers.
2. Pride and Prejudice
Knightley earned a Best Actress nomination for her role in the drama Pride and Prejudice at the Academy Awards.The story is based on Jane Austen`s novel of the same name about five sisters (the Bennet family) whose lives are turned upside down after arriving of a young wealthy man and his even more rich and proud friend in their neighborhood.The Bennets aren't from an upper class, and if Mr. Bennet dies, their house will be inherited by a distant cousin, whose name isn't even known to them. So the mother's main purpose in life is to find wealthy husbands for her daughters to make sure their family will be happy and secure.
This story of love unfolds in England around 1800. Big fans of the novel may complain this film is short, but as for such a long novel, this two-hour movie is great.
3. Pirates of The Caribbean
A high-grossing series of fantasy films Pirates of the Caribbean received positive reviews from the critics and was the first franchise where more than one film earned over $1 billion worldwide!
The whole story is about cursed Pirates who want to get rid of this curse, but to do that they need the pirate`s blood. They need the blood of William Turner - the Bill Turner`s son. But mistakenly they capture an independent-minded Elizabeth, the governor's daughter (who is portrayed by Keira Knightley). While Elizabeth is on the pirates` ship, Turner (Orlando Bloom) teams up with an extravagant pirate Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who is waiting for revenge against Barbosa.
A thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis sees her sister Cecilia and Robbie (who is the son of a family servant) when they are confessing their true love for each other and reads the letter which Robbie has written to Cecilia about his feelings to her. She misunderstands everything and accuses the lover of her sister in a crime he didn't commit, and it changes their lives. Robbie and Cecilia have torn apart as the Second World War breaks out in their lives...
5. Bend It Like Beckham
A comedy about breaking the rules to reach for your dreams, rebelling against parents' traditionalism. Jess Bhamra, a teenager that is passionate about football, plays football in the park with her friends, but soon she is noticed by Juliette Paxton (Jules for short), who plays in a local women's league, and joins a girls football team. The team is coached by a handsome young man Joe, who appears to be the subject of both girls' affection.
Jess' loving Sikh family wants only the best for her but doesn't share her fascination, while Jess is dreaming of being as great as her hero David Beckham.
6. Anna Karenina
Joe Wright returns to use Keira Knightley as his heroine for the third time. The actions of the new version of Anna Karenina are staged within an actual theater. Anna (Knightley), a young wife of the government minister Karenin (Jude Law), lacks the love for her husband and finds the sense of her life in her eight-year-old son. Everything changes when Karenina meets the young officer Vronsky (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and both understand that each of them found their love. But the high society of St. Petersburg and Moscow and such choices aren`t acceptable in it, though she wants to believe the rules can be broken, Soon, she pays the price.
7. Begin Again
Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her college sweetheart and songwriting partner Dave (Adam Levine) make off to New York when he leaves her girlfriend on her own, tempted by his new-found fame. Very soon Dan (Mark Ruffalo) is captivated by Gretta`s talent when he sees her performing on an East Village stage when she sings in a quiet, lovely voice, accompanied by her acoustic guitar. Though Gretta is a songwriter, not a singer, she agrees to sign with Dan. They team up and produce an album that will revive her career...
8. Never Let Me Go
Never Let Me Go is a British drama film, an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel. The story tells us about three friends that grow up at Hailsham, an English boarding school. Kathy, Tommy, and Ruth portrayed by Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield, and Keira Knightley, as any other children in this school, are called guardians and destined to be organ donors. One day they receive an instruction about their future... many of them, as the organ donators, will 'complete' being young. Very soon they leave the school and the truth is revealed to all of them, and they also have to cope with their feelings of love and betrayal.
9. The Duchess
Georgiana Spencer, the 18th-century aristocrat, was married to the Duke of Devonshire when she was 17. The wedding was an arranged marriage: she had met the Duke only two times beforehand. So Georgiana had no information about the demands of marriage. The Duke expects a young wife to give birth to a male hair. Unfortunately, Georgiana becomes a mother of two girls, and with the birth of each new daughter, the Duke becomes more and more disappointed.

10. Last Night
The story centers on Michael Reed, portrayed by Sam Worthington and Joanna, portrayed by Keira Knightley. They are a happy married couple, living in New York that struggles with difficulties, temptations in a relationship. One day Joanna meets the stunning, beautiful colleague Michael, and this makes her doubt her husband's faithfulness. Soon Michael goes with Laura on a business trip, while Joanna spends the night with her ex-boyfriend Alex, who is in New York to meet his publisher.
There are no cheaters, no winners. This is the movie about the issues every couple faces in real life.
11. The Edge of Love
The Edge of Love is a drama, the script of which was written by Sharman MacDonald, Keira Knightley's mother. A film is set during the 1940s in Wales and London and tells us the story of the love triangle: Welsh poet Dylan Thomas is married to the adventurous Caitlin, but passionately falls in love with Vera, his teenage love. Though she feels the same , she can`t be with him, as he is married.So she decides to accept a proposal from her devoted admirer William. At that time Vera and Caitlin form a strong friendship.
