Jax Teller is so bad, You Have to Love Him

My favorite anti-hero on television is Jackson "Jax" Teller (Charlie Hunnam) . Jax is a son, father, brother, husband, and criminal all wrapped into one stunning package. In addition to the roles above, Jax is also the president of the SAMCRO motorcycle club in Charming, California on the FX sitcom Sons of Anarchy.

Jax Teller - My Favorite Anti-Hero

Jax encompasses everything I despise in men, he is a criminal, violent, adulterous, and much more. However, I can't stop watching the show. Out of all the characters on the show, Jax is my favorite. Opie (Ryan Hurst) was a close second, but Kurt Sutter killed him off before his character had a chance to compete with Jax as the most popular character on SOA. In fact, Jax is my favorite anti-hero on TV.

Why Jax Teller is the Best Anti-Hero

If you haven't seen Sons of Anarchy on FX, you may be asking yourself why I love this show and why Jax Teller is my favorite anti-hero? Well, the answer is easy...Jax is flawed. Jax and I are not flawed in the same ways, but I like watching a dramatic TV show that's main character is struggling with so many demons.

I root for him to make better choices in his life. Not only is Jax flawed, but he has mixed morals. He has been through so much in his life and although he knows he makes bad choices, he truly doesn't know what other choices there are to make. Over the last six seasons, I have watched Jax make bad choices, better choices, and choose a path to redemption. Although to succeed, he has had to engage in brutality, lost people close to him, and been betrayed by the people he loves the most.

Jax is Likely to be Unhinged in Season 7

In season 6 of Sons of Anarchy, Jax was truly struggling with his demons, his future, and what was right for him and his family. For fear of losing everything and putting his family in danger, he was willing to sacrifice himself. However, his well-laid plans were interrupted and Tara, his wife, the one he could always count on to be in his corner was murdered.

Since Tara was the only thing that kept Jax grounded, I predict that when season 7, the final season, of Sons of Anarchy debuts in September, we will be presented with a broken Jax. Fans of Sons shouldn't be surprised if Jax is totally unhinged. Personally, even though Jax is an anti-hero, I will be rooting for him every episode of season 7.

If he can't redeem himself for the sins, crimes, and betrayals he has committed, and what these actions have caused him, I hope at the very least, he will be able to gain some peace in his life.

Jax Lost his Soul in Season 7

As I had predicted, Jax was unhinged in season 7, but it was so much more than I anticipated. Not only did Jax become unhinged, but he slowly lost his soul in the final season of SOA. With so much heartbreak, and little hope for the future, Jax tried to right as many wrongs as possible before he left this world forever.

Anyone that wronged Jax in the past, threatened the stability of SOA without a leader, or stood in the way of Wendy and the boys living happily ever after had to be dealth with...and they were.

No Forgiveness for the Wicked

If you haven't finished watching season 7 of Sons of Anarchy, don't keep reading. If you have, you know Jax couldn't forgive Gemma. Through the years, Jax forgave his mother over and over again, but the anti-hero couldn't forgive his mother for killing his wife. While Jax had likely already planned his tragic ending, he had to take out his mom first.

But, what many don't realize is that Jax didn't take Gemma out for revenge. Instead, he realized in that moment just how truly wicked she was. She had lead him down the path of his demise and couldn't leave this world knowing she would fight to raise his sons. Jax, like JT, wanted better for his sons, but couldn't allow Gemma to interfere (something JT hadn't thought of). The only one for Jax to truly guarantee his boys wouldn't become outlaws is to remove his mother from their lives, which entailed murdering her in a garden of roses.
