The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos
Disneynature is a branch of the Walt Disney Company tasked with creating new nature documentary films for Disney. The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos was the first documentary film that they released.
A joint British-French-American production, it premiered in France in October of 2008. Subsequently, it was released in the United Kingdom and eventually available in North America.
The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos will take you to join millions of mysterious and majestic flamingos on Lake Natron in Tanzania, Africa. You will learn much about the life cycle this wonderful pink bird with a particular focus on their coming of age and mating patterns.
On this page, you will find more information about this film, the video trailers, reviews (including a discussion of whether or not this film is suitable for your young children) and links to more information about Disney's other new nature programs.

Disneynature's Official Description of The Crimson Wing
"In a remote and forgotten wilderness, one of nature's last great mysteries unfolds: the birth, life and survival of a million crimson-winged flamingos. Against the dramatic backdrop of unforgiving, never-before filmed landscapes, we follow the birth of a tiny flamingo hatchling, and the perils and fortunes of her life in the extraordinary "other world" of Lake Natron in northern Tanzania."
Disneynature's Crimson Wing Rated For Children
In case you are wondering what age children this film is appropriate for.
Finding information about the rating of this film has proven difficult particularly since it has not been released yet in North America. However, what little I have been able to locate indicates that it is a nature film that shows all of nature, which includes flamingo chicks being eaten by their predators.
As The Daily Mail said, "Be warned, however, that it shows nature red in tooth and claw, and does not flinch from depicting flamingo chicks being eaten alive by marabou storks and other predators." The Daily Mail goes on to recommend the film for adults or sophisticated children. Sophisticated children being those that are well aware about survival of the fittest.

Flamingos are amazing birds. I heard that they are pink mainly because of the shrimp they eat. ...hmmmm I wonder what the shrimp are eating.... beets?

There is something about nature that strikes at the heart of anyone with feeling. The beauty, the visions, the babies and the countryside in which such gorgeous creatures appear can never be reproduce by man. An awesome lens. *-*Blessed*-* and featured on Sprinkled with Stardust and also on Save Planet Earth
