Without a doubt if rap had a god in flesh, then Tupac was probably the human body which the god of rap occupies. This American rapper and actor was the voice of the street in the early 90s, with great hits that the world is yet to forget. Tupac has been rated, listed and ranked as one of the greatest artists of all time, his influence on the rap world and beyond is beyond the ordinary.
His songs revolved around the violence and hardship in inner cities, racism, and other social problems that thrived in his time and still thrive these days in America and around the world. In 1996, Tupac was reportedly shot dead, after he attended the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson boxing match with Suge Knight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It is reported that while at a red light at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in front of the Maxim Hotel, a white, four-door, late-model Cadillac with an unknown number of occupants pulled up to the right-side of a sedan in which Pac was, a window was rolled down and rapid fire of gunshots were aimed at Shakur. He died of internal bleeding and his ashes were cremated
4. Princess Diana
This princess was not just royalty to the Welsh; she was indeed princess of the world at the time. A worthy ambassador of the Queen of England, Diana was a beacon to a world that was shrouded in darkness. She was so loved and had such great influence that her wedding to the Prince of Wales, reached a global television audience of well over 750 million people. The wedding was held at St Paul’s Cathedral on 29 July 1981.
She was known and love for her works of charity and her goodwill. Dianna did a lot of works in helping those fighting HIV/AIDS and Cancer. It was not surprising that after she was fatally injured in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma road tunnel in Paris, “the funeral saw the British television audience peak at 32.10 million”. It was one of the United Kingdom’s highest viewing figures ever, while millions more watched the event around the world
5. Paul Walker
Paul Walker practically broke our hearts, shattering it to pieces that cannot be pieced back again. Walker who was just 40 at the time of his death, was the star of the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise.
For one who was star of a movie in which the cars moved so fast, it was very that he was killed when the Porsche he was a passenger in, smashed into a light pole and tree, then exploded into flames. The world was waiting for his next appearance and could not believe that man who had made them fall head over heels with the “Fast and Furious” will no more be a part of the project, forever. Songs were dedicated to him, people cried their hearts out, wishing this cat had one more life to spare
6. Robin Williams
He gave the world endless smiles as a comedian and yet stole it from the people’s faces at his death. The 63-year-old actor was found dead of an apparent suicide at his residence in Tiburon, Calif. 8. Michael Jackson
People would kill to touch him, many would die to come into his presence, without a doubt, he was a god in his own right. The King of pop as he was crowned, had magic in his voice and his looks were reason enough for many to go bunkers.
One can only then imagine what happened, when in June 2009, at the age of 50, the king died from a fatal combination of prescription drugs that shut down his already weak heart. The world wept and tears flowed like a welling river, many people refused to be consoled and still cannot believe that he is no more.
Popularly known as the archrival of Michael Jackson, Prince was a bundle of talents in one, he possessed skills that only a few in the industry could boast of. He left his purple rain stream down our eyes and the rain has not stopped since his departure in 2016
10. Whitney Houston
Some people have powerful voice that angels cannot match, their voices resonates into heaven so powerfully that the angels cannot help but bow in admiration, one of such powerful voices was that of Whitney. So powerful a musician, that she won the Grammys six times. Sometimes life knows how to make a mockery of all that we have achieved, and so was this amazing songstress’s case.
In 2012, while just 48, she was found dead in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton hotel room. Her death came on the eve of the Grammy Awards, from accidental drowning, cocaine overdose and coronary artery disease. We can only wish that we get a second chance, and if we do, we hope that we use it to the fullest.
