Wendy the way she was
The Wendy Williams Show (Now called Wendy) debuted on July 14, 2008, in select US locations. The programs are broadcast live in front of a studio audience in New York City at Chelsea Studios on Mondays through Thursdays. The Friday shows are either a repeat of a previous episode or a first-run episode that was originally taped after the one on Thursday for broadcast the following day. Williams has come under fire for her criticism of celebrities and embarrassing them on their air. Williams once confronted Whitney Houston in 2003 about breast implants and Method Man from the Wu-Tang Clan had a heated argument with Wendy for broadcasting that his wife had breast cancer. Now all eyes are on Williams and her fans are wondering if it's possible she will never return to her show. Wendy Williams has not hosted her self-titled talk show once since the new season began in September 2021. She has been absent due to ongoing health issues and guest hosts Michael Rapaport, Joe Remy Ma, Sherri Shepherd, Terrence J, and Bevy Smith, have been filling in and will do so until March 4. There now has been an update to the situation and one of the co-hosts, Shepherd will be taking over the time slot with her own talk show
Guest hosts until March 4 and an update
Ironically Williams.is now in the same hot seat where she placed so many celebrities over the years which drew ire from the entertainment community. The host put the personal business of fellow entertainers on blast and now the same is being done to her. The rumor mill is having a field day with her absence and even suggesting that she might never return to her popular show. In December 2021 Wiliams was shown leaving a Miami Wellness Center and she told fans she was doing 'fabulous". She added that there would be more "Wendy stuff" but as of yet, this has not taken place and there is now an update. The guest hosts will continue filling in until the end of this current season but Wendy will be replaced by Sherri Shepherd who will debut her own talk show titled Sheri.
Unsubstantiated rumors and some facts
This is what was reported about Wendy by Page Six who says an alleged "source" stated the following: "The truth is a lot of the stories that you are hearing about Wendy are true and they are coming straight from the staff,” This source also added: “It’s one thing to see what we have seen in the studio, but it’s another thing when certain staff members make it to her home … When the cameras and mics are off, the liquor comes out” which seems to imply that Wendy has a drinking problem. A representative for Williams insisted to Page Six that the stories about her health are “inaccurate” said the rumors that she would never return to her talk show are “speculation..” Sources who spoke to the Sun gave a grim picture of Williams' current situation by saying “The spark is gone. That Wendy, who for 10 years had that spark in her eyes, that cheeky grin, and that little wink is not the same now. She’s not always functioning like she used to be. She has days where she needs help eating, getting out of bed, and getting dressed.” The Sun also reported in September that Williams had a drinking problem and was indulging while filming her top-rated show. Whatever is going on, the talk show that bears her name is history and Sherri Shepherd will debut with her own style at the same time she used to sub for Wendy.
Sherri Shephard steps in
Now it appears that the stories regarding the former host's health have some truth to them because Shepherd will be taking over her time slot in the fall of 2022. Please note that according to Entertainment Wendy Williams is welcome to return to her own talk show later but for now her time slot will be filled by her guest host. Fans will no doubt be trying to find out the details of Williams's health and prying into her personal situation the same way she did with those she used on Hot Topics. This is a sad situation for Wendy but good news for Shepherd. Rumors will be flying that Wendy's health must have worsened and there have already been reports that she dealt with COVID. This is the way of the entertainment industry but best of luck to Wendy in her recovery and may she in time return to her talks show healthy and strong if that is possible. In the meantime lets get to know the woman who will be taking over her television spot.
