New Moon Soundtrack Details

The New Moon Soundtrack is much better than the moody, original Twilight soundtrack.

The New Moon soundtrack begins with “Meet Me on the Equinox” by Death Cab for Cutie, which they have recorded in the past.  “Hearing Damage” by Thom Yorke has a full, rich vocal sound. And  “A White Demon Love Song” by the Killers is the best song yet by this Las Vegas-based group.

Because this soundtrack features multiple artists, there are many different sounds and chances to discover new talent.  A new favorite is “Monsters” by the Hurricane Bells, which is a catchy, upbeat song that’s sure to be a hit. “Rosyln” by Bon Iver and St. Vincent is a quiet song with acoustic guitars and unworldly voices. The result is a haunted feeling quite appropriate to the movie.

Comment on the Twilight New Moon Soundtrack

Elefanza from Somewhere in My Brain on September 01, 2010:

I think I liked the first soundtrack better. The songs had a corny, angsty appeal to them that made them create a better sense of the book. The third soundtrack has one song that I adore ("Let's Get Lost"), but I haven't decided if I want to shell out the money for the whole soundtrack yet. Still, I like the third album's movie selections. And the third movie is much better than the second.

I'm still quaffling on the whole Twilight series. One of the reasons I think I'm frustrated is that Bella in the movies does seem shallow and vain now whereas in the books she doesn't seem as vain. She seems unwilling to sacrifice any part of her self for the greater good. As my husband pointed out, she doesn't try to offer herself up to the vampires that are coming to attack and possibly kill everyone.

Perhaps it's one of those kinds of books that is meant to convey just the intensity of that first love and passion and the complexities that ensue? Either way, I'm decidedly torn on my take on this series now. But I did enjoy it, so I can't completely shun it. It's probably one of those works that shouldn't be analyzed.
