Top 5 Worst Anime of Summer 2020

The 2020 summer break not only gave me enough time to find the best anime of summer 2020 but also to figure out the ones that didn’t go expected. The below-mentioned anime gathered the lowest ratings in summer. I won’t call them worst, but since it goes perfectly with “best”, I think it’s a fair word. These are my opinion, it’s possible one of these might be your favorite, so feel free to bag on.

Top 5 Worst Anime of Summer 2020

1. Ninja Collection

2. Gibiate

3. Kyojinzoku no Hanayome (The Titan's Bride)

4. Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan (Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time)

5. Dokyuu Hentai HxEros (SUPER HXEROS)

Ninja Collection

Ninja Collection

1. Ninja Collection

My biggest disappointment is “Is this really an anime?”. I wonder if it does any justice to the word animation, after all. In the simplest term, the animation is a digital illusion that shows the movement of various entities, which can be characters, vehicles, or anything movable. To do so, it’s sort of necessary to show at least 5 frames per second, usually, it’s 12 unique frames per second. But in the case of Ninja Collection, it averages around 1 frame per second. Say, what? Yes, that’s right. It’s 1 frame per second, to say the least, which is exactly 60 times slower than the usual anime you watch. So, I wonder if I should even consider this an anime of today’s generation.

Now coming to the story, as the name says you are supposed to watch action-packed ninjas in a fight with antagonists. I am sorry to disappoint you again. If you want to torture someone then coerce them to watch this, and you’ll have your revenge. The anime is supposed to be horrifying, I am not sure how can someone create that in a 4-minute episode. It takes time to create the environment and then fill it up with scary elements, maybe it’s a comical anime underneath, but I was dead serious.

I was done after the first episode, though I still gave a chance to second, it’s utterly hopeless. No wonder so many reviewers want to give it 0 out of 10, only if that was a feasible option.

If we talk about OST, then the anime has religiously ruined this part as well. If you intend to give it a try, then keep your brain, heart, everything aside. In fact, you can challenge your friends to make it to the last episode, I wonder how many would stick just after 2 episodes. I am not the type to criticize the art to this level, but I really want to know if the production team was just experimenting, or is it for real?

Gibiate

Gibiate

2. Gibiate

For Gibiate, it’s mentioned on the Internet that for its development, world-class Japanese creators joined hands. No offense, but I doubt that. Every coin has two sides, one is heaven which is these globally acclaimed creators, and the other side is hell, which is this anime altogether.

It’s all depends on the story at the end that decides the anime fate. So, what’s the story? In a nutshell, the background is the COVID-19 pandemic. Characters hail from all walks of life, some of whom are supposedly from the past as well such as Ninja Kenroku Sanada, and Samurai Sensui Kanzaki. They have time-traveled and are now assigned a task to aid the humans from the infectious disease called “Gibia” by finding a cure. As good as it sounds, the bad CGI effects ruin everything like hell. There are plenty of plot twists you’ll encounter now and then, sadly they don’t last for long, they go as they come.

In short, it’s a piece of garbage created by a naive kid who was just looking for a fast way to earn huge bucks and asked his friends to help him, and that’s all. The anime is overpraising and under-delivering at its best. For short time, you may feel related to the characters, but as the series progresses, their personality becomes a bit confusing. The characters' development is not taken seriously and the characters may divert from their behavior unexpectedly something which doesn’t make sense in a real-life scenario.

The sole savior of this epic-failure is its OST which is made by the legendary Japanese artist Yasuhiro Sugihara, better known by his stage name “Sugizo”. He is a widely celebrated name in the music industry. However, a sole OST isn’t enough to lift the standards of the show, everything needs to be in sync to make it a masterpiece. Overall, it’s a no-brainer and I don’t recommend it at all.

Kyojinzoku no Hanayome (The Titan's Bride)

Kyojinzoku no Hanayome (The Titan's Bride)

3. Kyojinzoku no Hanayome (The Titan's Bride)

I can’t deny the art style is at par excellence. However, the story is way too unique that it’s totally indigestible. If you are planning to watch it because of the soft art designs, then I suggest you find something else with equally great art. That’s the only thing this anime offers, rest is just fan service. The story doesn’t happen itself, you have to find it amid the rumpy-pumpy dirt.

To make it easier for you, the gist of the anime is “Hey! Be my bride as you come from another world. If you don’t, I can’t be the king of my world” and that’s all. Don’t expect anything else.

The story revolves around Kouichi Mizuki, who is athletic, handsome, and tall and is well-regarded by his classmates. One day, he suddenly vanishes from his room and finds himself surrounded by gigantic men and women in a distant unknown world. He meets Caius Lao Bistail, the prince of the Titans, who urges him to become his bride at whatever the cost. Thus, commences the stupidest plot of all time.

No matter how much you are into the fun stuff, this series will literally make you uncomfortable. You may feel like vomiting at times. The characters are easily forgettable. I suggest you not waste your time and find something else that offers real entertainment.

Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan (Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time)

Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan (Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time)

4. Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan (Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time)

You know sometimes the voice actors and production staff are not in the mood to work. But they have to produce something in order to fill the slot and ensure their cash inflow. Then anime like Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan comes into existence. This is utterly unredeemable, in fact, the source material is sheer trash.

The story is about Peter Grill, who has achieved the title of the strongest warrior in the world. The whole world knows of his worth now and he is finally ready to engage with his beloved senior, Luvelia Sanctos, who is equally beautiful and innocent. Peter dreams of spending his whole life with her, despite the constant objections from her father.

Not too late, the dream approaches its end when the news of his grand victory reaches the ears of women of other races. They are elves, ogres, orcs, and so on. All of them want to have their offsprings born with his might. Peter would do anything to avoid these women’s advances and stay loyal to his love, Luvelia. But for how long can he keep the promise? Certainly, he can’t, that’s why this disgusting anime came into existence.

If you know Ishuzoku Reviewers, then you know what you are getting into. However, in this situation, don’t expect to receive high-quality visuals. The anime is cheap and clearly, no one has put any effort to improve it even a bit.

Dokyuu Hentai HxEros (SUPER HXEROS)

Dokyuu Hentai HxEros (SUPER HXEROS)

5. Dokyuu Hentai HxEros (SUPER HXEROS)

Watching the continuation of downgraded anime for a while, I understand that for some production houses adding high-quality art with great music is the sure way to take any anime to the top. Seriously? What about the story, man? You can’t give us a dancing gorilla with MJ music and expect us to adore it for years. Well, Dokyuu Hentai HxEros doesn’t have any gorilla, this is just how I want to express my disappointment for this show.

There’s no story, the characters are pathetic, and likewise, the anime is a no-show. Even if your intention is fan service, still the story is a must. You can’t expect someone to hang out with a good-looking person for long unless they show intelligence.

The anime is cliche and utterly meaningless. You can find thousands like this one hopefully with a well-made story as a bonus. The art is totally wasted on this piece f garbage, it brings nothing to the table and is overall pathetic.

Since it says heroes in its title, you may expect it to have fight scenes as well. But I assure you it’s a total waste of time in this category as well. Better watch WWE, or even the kids’ bickering is way more entertaining than this one. I would never ever suggest this trash to anyone. For me, it's 0 out of 10.

Luckily, summer 2020 did come up with some amazing anime as well which went beyond the expectations. Look no further, here’s the list.
