Instead, conserving his energy and spending his high school life as plain as possible is more appealing to him.

His life changes when he receives a letter from his older sister in which she wants him to enter his schools' Classical Literature Club (Classics Club), which was most likely to be abolished as all members have graduated.

Being afraid to refuse his sister thinking it wouldn't change anything as he expected to be the only club member. But when he enters the club room, he sees a girl standing near the windows and looking outside. After some time, his old friends join this club as well.

Follow along as they begin to investigate a case from 45 years ago. Hints of the mystery are buried in an old issue of an anthology called Hyouka published by the Classics Club in the 1960s.
