A legendary historical period drama, Jumong is a sageuk series from 2006 to 2007 about the life of Jumong, founder of the kingdom of Goguryeo. It was originally scheduled for 60 episodes, but MBC extended it to 81 because of its immense popularity. Although it is fictionalized, the drama is still considered as one of the best historical period series and received several awards. 2. Lovers in Paris
Lovers in Paris is a 2004 romance drama series starring Kim Jung-eun, Park Shin-yang and Lee Dong-gun. She plas the role of an orphaned kitchen cook who went on to become the king's first female physician. The drama gained extreme popularity and became a huge success, with an average viewership rating of 46.3% and a peak of 57.8% (making it the 10th highest rated Korean drama of all time). Lee Young-ae won the Grand Prize/Daesang at the 2003 MBC Drama Awards for her remarkable performance.
