Jesse Stone's Reviews and Updates

Barbara started this review of Jesse Stone's movies in 2012. She has reviewed Jesse's adventures, joys, life's negative side, and loves.

Jesse Stone's Journey/ Update 2022

Jesse Stone is still Paradise's Police Chief. He still drinks, he still likes women, and he has a new dog. I started this review in 2012. I am up-dating it on 10/19/2020 for your enjoyment and my pleasure of keeping one of my favorites alive.

Updated 2022-- In my research for a Jesse Stone #10, Tom Selleck said, "Fans will need to understand I am older now, and I am working on another Jesse Stone #10. Now, this is from the Internet--so I am hoping that Tom did say this--I want to see the completion of years of following Jesse Stone Movies--like a puppy dog, I am following every word I see about this great event.

Tom has not retired from his Reagan role--but maybe he will tell us more later. And a note to Tom Selleck---we are all getting older; however, few are as young-looking as you. (Except the women fans---we are still fine as aged wine.)

Will Another Jesse Stone Movie be Made in 2022 to Tie Up Looses Ends Not Answered?

I am hoping that Tom Selleck will produce another Jesse Stone movie in 2022 because we need answers. Refresh your memory by watching the last movie titled "Benefit of the Doubt."

Saul Rubinek's character Hasty Hathaway escaped from Jesse Stone after paying a 'hit-man' to kill Jesse. Hathaway was a super con and always told Jesse he liked him, but he did not fool Jesse.

Hasty Hathaway I believe he wa

I am hoping that Tom Selleck will produce another Jesse Stone movie in 2022 because we need answers. Refresh your memory by watching the last movie titled "Benefit of the Doubt." as the boss of a crime family. He got away in a boat and left Jesse on the docked ship with a dead hitman and no way to pursue him at the time.

I am ready for Tom to bring Jesse back to us. Take care, my Jesse Stone fans, and stay safe.

03/01/2022 Update-- I am excited about Jesse Stone #10, and I feel it will happen sooner than later. It has been seven years (2015) since the last part of the series was written.

I am trying not to get excited—however, there are many questions to be answered. And I wonder who Jesse's woman will be—no, he has not called me yet for the part.

I will keep us updated so we can get ready to pop our corn and drizzle it with chocolate.

Benefit of the Doubt Collected Millions of Viewers

It has been 8 years since the last Jesse Stone movie, "Benefit of the Doubt," and I am well past ready for the next one.

I cannot understand why CBS is not interested in doing another one. According to my Internet research, CBS's "Benefit of the Doubt" had up to 15 million viewers, according to my research.

I believe, since CBS feels like home to Tom Selleck for the Jesse Stone movies, he really wants to film the next one with them.

However, will they do it in time to benefit from the momentum of Jesse Stone fans?

Jesse Needs Crimes to Solve

Sometimes, I could shake Jesse Stone (Tom Selleck) for not showing his dog Reggie more love and affection. I can still see the look on Reggie’s (Joe's) beautiful canine face begging Jesse to love him. Well, it doesn’t matter anymore because at the beginning of the movie we find out that Reggie has gone to dog heaven.

Will Jesse get another dog? Since Hasty Hathaway (Saul Rubinek) made an exit out of town with Jesse breathing down his neck, crime in Paradise disappeared. And Jesse becomes bored, so he travels to his friend Captain Healy’s (Stephen McHattie) office in Boston to work on cold cases. Jesse works for expenses only because his mind needs the distraction from wandering in the wrong directions, and he does not need money.

Jesse leaves Luther "Suitcase Simpson" (Kohl Sudduth) in charge of running the office. Rose Gammon (Kathy Baker) has not returned to Paradise since she divorced her drunkard husband and sold the house.

Jesse's Girl Sang Like an Angel

Jesse finds that instead of Healy (who is on a Florida vacation), he will be working with Lt. Sydney Greenstreet (Leslie Hope). Sydney and Healy are both very serious about their profession, but Sydney's relationship with Jesse has a past. She and Jesse were involved in a short lovemaking indulgence, whereas Healy was just a great friend of Jesse’s.

Jesse also paid a visit to the woman who escaped while in Boston (the hard to get and hard to keep is always appealing to most). Her name is Thelma Gleffey (Gloria Reuben), and Jesse told her before he left the bar where she sang that she sang like an angel. He was hurt that she ran away from him and is now seeing her ex-husband. His true feelings came out when he called his ex-wife after not speaking to her for two years and got a recording. Jesse did not leave a message.

His first case involved a murderer named Richard Steele (Luke Perry), who confessed to three murders and was blamed for the fourth one. Richard told Jesse he did not do the fourth girl and he hoped Jesse would find out who did it. He did not want to take credit for something he did not do.

Jesse left the prison with many questions; did he believe Richard? He might have been for the simple reason that the press did not have all the clues; only the ones who worked the case and the need to know law enforcement.

Who was the fourth victim? We know she was married and had a puppy given to her by her lover, named Steve. Was her killer a cop? Will Jesse solve this crime?

I believe everyone has either seen this movie on Hallmark or has, like myself, purchased it to show whenever I want.

I hope everyone enjoyed this movie as much as I did, and now I am waiting for the Number 10 Jesse Stone movie, where I hope he chases Hasty Hathaway and puts him in prison this time.

I did not talk about one of the fascinating characters, Gino Fish (William Sadler), whose name I love to hear him tell Jesse, "I know of no such person." He always has Jesse poured a cup of coffee, but Jesse never gets to drink it. He has helped Jesse in the past and will again, I am sure, in the future.

Encore for Lost in Paradise

I am smiling because Jesse Stone fans saw Lost in Paradise again on Sunday night in October. Hallmark delighted their fans yet again by making our weekend more enjoyable after a long, hard week at work.

My popcorn was ready with chocolate drizzled over the top. It does not get any better than seeing Jesse Stone again, and this time with Luke Perry. Three of my favorite pleasures: popcorn with chocolate while watching Tom Selleck and Luke Perry.

See you there.

Jesse Stone Fans Thanks Hallmark Movies and Mysteries

Hallmark came to the rescue of Jesse Stone Movies, as they will be the new home for Jesse Stone’s ninth movie. Number nine will be Jesse Stone's: The sequel to Lost in Paradise continues in Paradise and is in production in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the real seaport, with a fall premiere.

Hallmark Movies and Mysteries will premiere Jesse Stone’s New Movies in future sequels. This is the best news because Hallmark has the best movies and I am sure we will be happy to see more in the series sooner rather than later since we have waited so long.

Our anticipation will be great as we wait for the fall of 2015—only months away in lieu of years. Did I say I was happy? This is better than chocolate candy or a first kiss.

And, better still, the handsome Luke Perry is joining the cast. I will write more about it soon. I love the way he looks at a woman with his dark eyes. Hurry up to October!

Going Home Again

Let These Rumors be True

I am hearing rumors that Hallmark might be the new home for Jesse Stone’s new movies. We know they are showing reruns of the Jesse Stone Series and all the fans are hopeful we are right about this one.

Look how long we’ve waited for the next Jesse Stone movie, and I am hoping it will be in 2015. Maybe Tom Selleck will issue a statement on this soon that they will be filming in 2015.

My blond hair will be grey with worry about when I will see the next Jesse Stone movie. However, I am waiting just the same because I know Tom Selleck will not let us down.

We can hope and wait, as good fans do.

For Savvy Television Producers

I found over the Internet that the CBS producer in 2012 stated there would be no more Jesse Stone movies on CBS. Well---I can tell you I believe that was an asinine decision because it brought older viewers back to CBS because of Jesse Stone. The ratings of adults 50 and older were nearly 10 times higher than the 1.2 rating sales in the potential market using demographics of adults 18-49.

It is evident someone needs to do their demographics again because the age group of 18-49 is watching less television. According to my research, 18-49 age group viewing has declined by as much as 18%.

The older viewers, 50 and older, have increased and this group buys the most DVDs. "Hello, television producers, are you doing your homework---the "Baby Boomers" are a force to be reckoned with," I say now.

So, that said, we the fans of Jesse Stone wait to see movie # 9---and if there are any intelligent producers out there, it will be done.

My friends have purchased all the Jesse Stone movies online because they tell me it saves gas and their valuable time not to shop in person.

My Latest News on Jesse Stone's Future

The news from sources stated the producers are looking for another network for the future home of Jesse Stone’s next movie. Jesse Stone will no longer be on CBS for reasons unknown to me. And, all we care about is that we will see #9 Jesse Stone's movies and more.

My opinion is that I cannot wait, and I will keep everyone posted with updates. However, if I wait too long, I will need one of Jesse's Scotch-on-the-rocks. Please hurry, Tom Selleck, your fans are waiting.

Fans are Waiting for Jesse Stone Movie; the Ninth in the Sequel

Fans all over the Internet are searching for any tidbit of news about when Tom Selleck will be filming the 9th movie in the Jesse Stone Series. We are all left hanging in anticipation; we are proud Jesse Stone groupies. We are left waiting to see or hear any news.

Aficionados of Jesse Stone are very patiently waiting for the ninth movie. When will we know? How will we know? Will we hear it from Jay Leno? Or, Tom Selleck?

Tom Selleck is currently filming the third season of "Blue Bloods," so it will be some time before he has time to write and direct another Jesse Stone film. And, if the ninth movie is the last one, then I want it to end with a good ending with everyone happy and accounted for in the last episode.

I will be searching for words from the ninth movie, and I will update my information for you.

Benefit of the Doubt---Councilman Hanson Visits Jesse

Jesse Stone (Tom Selleck) and his dog Reggie (Joe), a beautiful golden retriever, were enjoying the view of Paradise Bay when Councilman Carter Hanson (Jeremy Ackerman) and Hasty Hathaway (Saul Rubinek) came to visit Jesse.

Of course, Jesse knew what had happened before and had a good idea of what was coming next. The three of them went inside Jesse’s home to talk, followed by Reggie.

Councilman Hanson had hit a brick wall named Captain Healy (Stephen McHattie), who would not give out any information, not even an infinitesimal amount. Of course, Councilman Hanson was not used to being told no, so he was doing the only thing he could do, and that was ask Jesse Stone to come back as Paradise’s Police-Chief.

Jesse had mixed emotions because the accident was a tragedy, involving Deputy Anthony D’Angelo (Vito Rezza) and Paradise Police Chief William Butler (Jeff Geddis). William Butler was Councilman Hanson’s son-in-law. Jesse knew D’Angelo and Butler both had families, and this made him sad.

However, Jesse knew he would be the Chief of Paradise again because he had the skills and was a good friend of Captain Healy. They wanted to know what was going on, and they thought Jesse would tell them. Jesse knew how their minds worked or didn’t.

Jesse Arrived on the Crime Scene of Benefit of the Doubt

When Jesse arrived at the scene, and when Captain Healy found out Jesse was reinstated, he invited him across the line of yellow tape and would not let Councilman Hanson and Hasty enter.

Captain Healy told Jesse not to leave before he saw him, and Healy then went into a black motorhome, and Jesse went to investigate the scene. He met Dr. Perkins (John Beale), who told Jesse they would not let him near the bodies. So, Jesse solved that issue as he walked up to the stage and introduced himself to Dr. Perkins as his M.E. Then, crime-scene-photography took over, taking many pictures of the burnt corpses.

Before Jesse left, Captain Healy showed a half-burnt bag of $100 thousand dollars they found in the trunk of the car, indicating someone might be a dirty cop. But Jesse did not want that information out, because he wanted to prove it was not true.

Will Hastings, who served time in prison for money-laundering, be the guilty one? Jesse keeps his knowledge and clues to himself. And we know Hastings will come to Jesse with: "You know, I think a lot of you, Jesse." I suppose this is Hastings's way of breaking through Jesse's amour, but he is wasting his time.

The Benefit of the Doubt will be released on August 7th by Amazon. I cannot wait to see it again.

Jesse Stops a Vehicle

Jesse stops a vehicle that was following him around. Jesse asked the man for his license and registration. The man's name is Arthur Gallery (Robert Carradine).

Jesse asked him to open his trunk. And, when he did, there was a 308 rifle in the trunk, and Jesse remarked that the 308 was a good sniper gun.

Arthur Gallery replied that it was his deer rifle, and one could tell that Jesse Stone knew more than he was letting anyone know by his expression. T

He gave Arthur a warning---do not follow me around---and then walked back to his Paradise Police Car.

The criminal killing maze is growing, making it harder on Paradise's Chief Stone, but Jesse knew how to investigate, as the story began to talk to him.

Jesse Stone Movies in Order

  1. Night Passage
  2. Stone Cold
  3. Death in Paradise
  4. Sea Change
  5. Thin Ice
  6. No Remorse
  7. Innocents Lost
  8. Benefit of the Doubt

Death in Paradise

His third movie in the sequel was "Death in Paradise." Jesse had a good heart, but he was also tough, and in this movie you will see how his hard shell cracked a little as he tries to solve the murder of a once straight "A" teenage student.

Her parents did not even report that she was missing. Jesse questioned the parents and then visited the sister, who is in college.

while concurrently dealing with a domestic violence case. Also, while searching for clues, Jesse has a run-in with the Boston mob.

But tough Jesse took care of them with the ease of a professional lawman who had skills and experience on his side.

Stone Cold

Jesse Stone - Stone Cold (2005)

Stone Cold

The second movie in the sequel was "Stone Cold." Jesse found that Paradise was not the heavenly little fishing town one might think. Jesse begins Stone Cold without his dog Boomer.

Jesse's kidneys failed, and the doctor friend of Jesse's euthanized him. This added to Jesse’s sadness, which led to drinking Scotch, knowing whisky is not good for him, and more and more women in his life. He is determined to kill the pain using one and loving the other.

One woman in Paradie, Abby, he met, considered their relationship just buddies with benefits—the benefit kind that slept together—but Jesse really cared for Abby, who ended up being one of the homicides he was investigating. But Jesse knew who the serial-killer was, or maybe killers, and he set his trap for them.

But soon, homicides in Paradise took his mind off of drinking—now if only his ex-wife would stop calling him. His baggage was still following him; alcoholism, an ex-wife, and a disastrous love life. The one good addition to his life was his adopted dog, Reggie, a beautiful golden retriever.

Jesse's close friend was his female deputy police officer, Molly Crane (Viola Davis). He called her when she took a pregnancy leave and they talked for a long time. He missed her.

Night Passage

The first movie in the sequel was "Night Passage." This is the beginning of our introduction to Jesse Stone,as we find him standing on the beach, watching the ocean waves rise and break to push against the beautiful sand on the Santa Monica beach in California.

Jesse Stone looked troubled as he recalled his immediate issues, over and over in his mind.

Boomer, his bloodhound, waits patiently in the front seat of the vehicle for his master to return. However, the Santa Monica police officers were not waiting for Jesse to return to his vehicle because they stopped to check out the vehicle.

And, after only finding Boomer inside the vehicle, one police officer searchedsearched the area until he located Jesse, just standing in a hut and looking at the ocean.

"What are you doing here at 4:00 a.m. in the morning?" the police officer asked.

"I am waiting until I am sober." Jesse answered.

As the sun shines through the mist over the ocean in the morning fog that is settling on the beach, Jesse and Boomer are happily going down the road toward Paradise, Massachusetts.

Jesse is attempting to ignore the fact that he is leaving behind his ex-wife, Jenn, who divorced him and is now living with another man.Jenn, who calls him every day, rather than leaving Jesse alone to deal with his painful reality. Because of his drinking on the job, Jesse accepts the blame for the job he lost as a homicide detective in the LAPD. However, he does not accept the blame for their divorce---only half of it---maybe.

And, he knows what he is taking with him---his drinking habit---despondency of his divorce, and his dog Boomer. He looks at the scenic beauty as he drives towards a new life for him and Boomer.

Jesse was perplexed that the town council, headed by Hastings Hathaway, would enigmatically hire him after checking out his recent background. And, with his Copley intuition and investigative skills, he would get to the answer, hopefully before it was too late, because something smells fishy in Paradise.

Jesse receives a call for a domestic dispute, which ends when the man tells Jesse that "restraining orders" do not mean anything and he can come there to see his ex-wife any time he wants.

The ex-wife asked Jesse if that was true, and he answered: "No mam." Then the ex-husband is kicked in the crotch by Jesse Stone. And the man just lies there listening to Jesse tell him he had better never come into this house again. It was a great moment for the first movie of the series. It sets the pace for the no-nonsense and smart police chief this town of Paradise just hired.

Jesse and Abby--Didn't We Love?

Jesse Loved Abby--The Other Women just Warmed His Heart and His Bed

Making Something Important

The fourth movie in the sequel was "Sea Change." As in any small fishing town, after Jesse solves the murders, one can easily become bored. If one is like Jesse Stone, that is---so what does he do---first he goes to see Dr. Dix, his psychiatrist.

When Jesse tells Dr. Dix that he has nothing important to do now that the murders have been solved, Dr. Dix told Jesse to find something to do and to make it important.

So Jess becomes immersed in solving an old cold case, which is twelve (12) years old; and when he does, he has all the answers. And what did he do with them?

What's next for Jesse when he finds out that a beautiful woman who is taking care of her invalid mother is a criminal?

But what does Jesse really do about it?

But what does Jesse really do about it? Will he arrest her? Or, does he let her go for the sake of the mother?

Thin Ice

At the beginning of this movie, Jesse and his friend, State Homicide Commander Healy, are on an unofficial stakeout—because Healy is checking up on his grandson, whom his mother thinks is having an affair with his older music teacher.

They were sitting in the Healy’s car drinking their hot coffee while the stormy night inundated them with a downpour. Healy and Jesse are talking and glancing out the window towards where their grandson is taking a music lesson—as they wait for something to happen.

Watch what you wait for---as something different may happen, and it proved true on this stormy night, as a man started walking toward Healy’s car shooting. Healy is seriously wounded, and Jesse is also shot. However, Jesse scared the attacker off as he shot back several times.

The Paradise Town Council did not like it that Jesse was in Boston,Massachusetts and not in Paradise doing his duty as the Chief of Police, which they considered a 24/7 job. And they were also upset that Officer D’Angelo was no longer working for the Paradise Police Department. Because he was the one who wrote the most parking tickets and enforced the speed trap in town, which equally filled the revenue kitty for Paradise.

Rose Gammon, portrayed by Kathy Baker, takes Molly's place in this movie, as Molly has left to start a family. Rose takes her place, helping Jesse. She believed a woman who told her someone kidnapped her son and she knew he was alive. And she just came to Paradise on a bus to talk to Jesse.

And the mother never believed the skeletal remains of a baby were her baby, even though it was found with her baby’s wrist band---everyone said it was---but she knew better.

The woman came to Paradise because she had received a letter that stated, "Your child is loved."

No Remorse

The sixth movie in the sequel is "No Remorse." The City Council forced Jesse Stone to retire early with 12 months of retirement pay, and he still does not have a full-time job.

However, his friend Healy came to Paradise to visit Jesse and asked him to work for him as a consulting investigator for the Boston Police Homicide Division.

The case involved two murders that occurred in the same location of a car garage. One victim worked for Gino Fish, however,

Gino denied knowing him at first, so Jesse asked his secretary, Allen. And Allen asked, "What did Mr. Fish say?" And so Jesse told him, word for word. Allen also denied knowing the victim.

Gino Fish and Jesse had another meeting, and Jesse gave him some facts that he knew would get Gino’s attention.

Then Jesse asked about the third murder, but Gino knew nothing about it. But Gino admitted he knew the first victim but had not seen him for a few days.

Jesse Stone knew that Allen was the killer, and he told him that over the phone and talked him into meeting him outside Milly’s Gay Bar on the docks.

When Allen met Jesse, he threw the gun off the dock that he used to kill all three people, and then made his way to their appointment. As Allen stepped off a curb, a large truck hit him, killing him instantly.

Another case solved for Jesse, and Gino did not know anything about Allen’s death. But Jesse knew that Gino knew that Jesse knew the answer.

A Valuable Gift for Yourself--I have all the Jesse Stone DVDs

Innocents Lost

The seventh movie in the sequel was "Innocents Lost." It begins when a girl dies, and it is called a suicide from a possible overdose, but Jesse does not buy it.

The girl was a friend of Jesse’s, and she was coming to see him. She had written a letter to him, telling him that she was on her way. But Jesse had not opened the letter until they talked about her death.

Jesse’s investigation leads him to a Russian mobster, who arrives in a chauffeured limousine, so he follows him into a hotel. Jesse poses as the person who ordered a woman for the night.

When all three are in the room talking, Jesse knocks the Russian out and sends the girl home. He lost one girl, and he saved another. It was as if Jesse was trying to make it up to destiny. Then he ties the Russian up, and after talking to him, Jesse leaves.

Later, in the early a.m., the Russian stalks Jesse and enters his home to kill him. Also, hours before, Gino tried to warn Jesse on his cellphone—that the Russian knew his identity and that was the first time Gino ever put himself out to save another person.

For my research, I had to watch all of Jesse Stone's DVDs, and watching "Eye Candy" was such a journey that it made all the hours worth it. For instance, Sean Connery and Tom Selleck really look better as they age---well some anyway.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for Tom Selleck's Premiere of Jesse Stone's 8th movie, "Benefit of Doubt." I cannot wait, and I know my girlfriends will be nervous by May 20th. The anticipation is good.

Robert B. Parker

Tom Selleck never rests as he finishes a season of "Blue Bloods," a CBS Friday night series, because he starts filming another "Jesse Stone Movie" in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The fictional name for the town is Paradise, Massachusetts. The newest movie is "Benefit of Doubt," which will premiere on CBS May 20th at 9:00 p.m. (To find out where you can watch TV, go to TV Guide Online.)

Robert B. Parker was the author of the Jesse Stone Books, and as a crime writer, he wrote many books in his career, and when he died on January 18th, 2010, of a heart attack, he was writing another book.

He will be missed because talent such as his is as rare as a perfect round pearl.

Thank you, Mr. Parker, for the pleasure you have given to so many readers of your books and the movies made from them.

If you are a Tom Selleck fan, and I cannot believe there is anyone on this earth who isn’t---this is the eighth (8th) movie in the series of "Jesse Stone" movies.

Be sure to mark your calendar because Tom Selleck's premiere of Jesse Stone's 8th movie is "Benefit of the Doubt" and no one wants to miss it.

I like your ending storyline. Jesse Stone was not afraid of doing his job, and using force when needed. Yes, he needs to retire with a woman that will make him happy,

SClemmons from the Carolina Coast on October 22, 2018:

Thanks for the quick reply! I hope he does bring it back. I really enjoyed them. I could sort of relate to his character (except for the being an alcoholic part) Considering Selleck's age, 73, he does need to do at least one more finale show. Most law enforcement agencies have mandatory retirements at 70. But I would like to see one more good episode to sort of wrap up the series. Maybe he meets someone, retires, and stays there in Paradise?

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on October 22, 2018:

I believe Tom Selleck is still going forward per the news on the Internet. I want a least one more for closure to "Benefit of the Doubt."

Thanks for your comment.

So here it is near the end of 2018. It looks like everyone has abandoned the discussion here seeing that the last comment was 2 years ago.

If anyone is reading, is the Jesse Stone series done now? Does anyone know if Selleck wants to revive it?

Hi Kathleen Cochran,

I agree with you that Tom makes the Jesse Stone movies and I cannot wait for October to see the next one. Thanks for the visit and I hope we have many more of Jesse Stone movies.

Jesse Stone is my favorite Tom Selleck role. I would be happy if they made a TV series based on this character. I know the writer of the original books has passed away, and with all due respect, the books are pretty flat. Selleck brings the nuances of this character to life on the screen. Exceptional casting of the other characters doesn't hurt either. Keep 'em comin'!

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on April 28, 2015:

Hi Reynold Jay,

I do a weekly review on Tom Selleck's Blue Bloods; this is a show of goodness threaded all through it. He is one of my favorites. Have you seen the movies Michael Landon Jr, is director of the series called: Love Comes Softly from the novels of Janette Oke. I got my first movie at the Christian Book Store online. I did a review on some of these movies on HubPages. I've watched these movies so many times---I know every word before they say it.

I love action movies and movies that touches the heart. Hallmark is my favorite movie channel.

My little Sweetie Angel wants his dinner so I will write more in my email.

Take care.

Reynold Jay from Saginaw, Michigan on April 28, 2015:

Hi Bobbi, I must admit I have been so very busy with my latest series that I needed to neglect all my Hub friends in order to do it. I have been busty finding artist friends at Fine Art America as I've been posting the art from the upcoming series there.

I admire Tome Selleck ( and Cher) so very much that I l felt I needed to speak up for Tom ( he really doesn't need it). I watch little TV, however Blue Bloods on Friday night is the ONE show that is a must watch. Tom became a star because he believed in himself and produced a ton of westerns early in his career. I pay attention to actors who put up their own money and then star in their own productions. You can easily figure this out by watching the credits at the end of any movie. "Produced by..." I admire Michael Landon so very much for the same reason and can tell you that my Michael Landon Hub is the most popular HUB I have ever written. Well done. I suspect that you and I are so very similar in what inspires us to write. I know when we one day stand at the gates of heaven and are asked "What did you do that has worth?" it will be a very long list that will not include tossing a ball into a basket.

Great News, I just read Hallmark is going ahead and making the 9th Jesse Stone Movie "Lost In Paradise"

Thank God!!

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on February 10, 2015:

Hi rlesmensing,

I am still trying to verify it. I was told by someone who heard it from a party who works at Hallmark. I believe Tom is trying to find a home for his continued movies---and Hallmark is the best place for them. Since I did not hear it in person---it is still a rumor that I am still chasing.

Tom will soon be finished with his Blue Bloods Series and then maybe I will find out more---I waited years to collect all his Jesse Stone movies so I am not giving up now.

I will update when I find out more. And, thanks for checking back.

Bobbi Purvis

rlesmensing on February 10, 2015:

How true is your rumor you heard? I jumped with excitement when I read your comment because I have been trying to get someone to listen about making more Jesse Stone movies. I really hope there is some truth or there will be a lot of disappointed people like me if it isn't.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on February 01, 2015:

Hi peachpurple,

Tom is 70 years old--he just had a birthday. When I look at men as they grow older--they look great and then I put on my glasses and look in the mirror and it scares me.

Thanks for your visit and comment. And, have a wonderful week.

I love the Jesse Stone movies and there hasn't been one made yet that disappoints. It is sad about Robert Parker and I did understand there was some legal stuff to tie up some loose ends before more installments could be made in the Jesse Stone series, but I thought that had all been ironed out. This is one series I can watch over and over and not be bored. Tom Selleck is great eye candy and a great actor to boot. Thank you for keeping this article going with updates. I stop in every so often to make sure I am up to date. :)

I think Tom still has Jesse Stone on his mind, did you catch the line from the most recent episode of Blue Bloods," I'm the Police Commissioner, I know everything"? Sound familiar? I sure hope he continues the Jesse Stone series, its my favorite.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on October 23, 2014:

Hi Sylvestermouse,

It is good to hear from you and I will be visiting your hubs later. I love Tom Selleck as you can tell since I have two hubs about him. He is a great actor. And, I was happy to hear about #9 and I will update when I find out more.

Have a great night.

Cynthia Sylvestermouse from United States on October 23, 2014:

Thrilled to hear that there will be a #9!!! My husband & I recently watched 1-8 over a few nights. We are both huge Tom Selleck fans. Never a greater actor was born. He makes Jesse Stone real. Excellent article and reviews.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on October 23, 2014:

I looked him up last night and his books might be something I will enjoy reading. Thanks for the information.

Sondra Rochelle from USA on October 23, 2014:

We like him because he writes about the old West and his articles are quite authentic ,and his characters generally move from one novel to the next. You can find many of his novels in the public library and read them for free.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on October 22, 2014:

I will check him out soon

Sondra Rochelle from USA on October 22, 2014:

Haven't heard of her but will take a look. I normally read William Johnstone...such a great writer!

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on October 22, 2014:

I bet it did---and he still looks great. WOW! Did you see the Sacketts with Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott, it is a good movie. I got it when it first came out on Video, and I watched it so much the tape split. I need to get it on DVD.

If you like to read about cowboy and I mean good books---check out Linda Lael Miller. Her books are great and I buy them at Walmart.

You have a great Thursday,

Sondra Rochelle from USA on October 22, 2014:

You will love this story! Years ago when I was teaching HS one of the female guidance counselors had a huge poster of Tom that was to die for...young, shirtless, and jeans opened juuuuust enough...YOWZA! It kept us going on cold winter days!

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on October 22, 2014:

Hi Lady,

I love him too. Remember how he looked in Levi in his western movie? He cannot be outdone in that area. Do you watch Blue Bloods? He is great in that also.

We are Tom's unique fans. He looks great for 69 years old. I cannot wait for another Jesse Stone movie.

Until Later,

Sondra Rochelle from USA on October 22, 2014:

You say Tom Selleck, and I will be there. Have always loved everything he has ever done, and especially like that he is a stand up guy! Loved this article, girlfriend.

Hi dahoglund,

If you have Hallmark Movie Channel they have his films on there all the time. You write the best articles about dogs and I thought I knew a lot about them until I read some of your hubs. Don't stop writing so we can keep learning.

You have a great Sunday.

Heather on October 02, 2014:

GREAT NEWS!!!!! I posted a video from the Hallmark page on my FB page about them showing some of the movies this weekend. One of my FB friends works for the Hallmark channel and she stated they are going to pick up the Jesse Stone saga and continue it. Based on what they said it looks like 2015 will be the magic year. Hope this is as exciting for all of you as it is for me!

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on September 29, 2014:

First, I do not understand why CBS would not do any more movies---the rating were very high for Jesse Stone. I am sure he will get a network to do this since so many fans are waiting.

I did not know about the 4 scripts ready to shoot, but that is great news you just shared. I cannot wait. I appreciate your input and maybe it will happen soon.

Bobbi Purvis

Cathy on September 28, 2014:

I was reading over these posts again. You may have mentioned this in the articles above, but I thought TS said that he had as many as 4 more scripts in the pipeline ready to shoot. If that is the truth, he needs not only a new network, but time to shoot. How will he ever be able to get this all together?

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on September 10, 2014:

I love Jesse Stone movies and I cannot wait for more film to be made in the beautiful town of Paradise.

Thanks for your visit.

I love this character and the shows. I really liked the books, but the movie has developed a complex and fascinating story line. I hope, as do you, that the movie Jesse Stone will return with the sam east of characters and will continue to engage us. I have more room on my DVD shelf!

bobbi, i am starting to get jealous with you paying all this attention to tom. i thought you loved me, i am feeling very neglected, don't make me write you a love poem.

You and Lois sound very busy, however, don't forget to be good to yourselves and take a break.

Happy Tom Selleck watiching.

Your Hub Friend.

Chas/Lois67 on May 24, 2012:

Yes, we either watch or record for later viewing the "BLUE BLOODS" shows.

Our work schedules often prevent us from watching on Fri. nights. Lois usually works evenings and me,????, anytime 24/7.

We both love all of Tom Selleck's work.

So very upset that we both forgot about the movie Sun. night but had been a very hectic week with one 26.5 hr run.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on May 24, 2012:

Hi Chas/Lois67,

The 8th Movie "Benefit of the Doubt" can be pre-ordered on Amazon. And I would check with Walmart online for the others as I believe they are cheaper there.

I hope you are watching "Blue Bloods" on CBS as Tom Selleck is the star of that show. It is very good.

Thanks for the visit,

Chas/Lois67 on May 24, 2012:

We missed last Sunday night's show due to previous commitments and for got to record it. Tom Selleck is our favorite actor and wonder if this will be released on video.

we have watched all the rest and would like to have the entire series.

The Jesse Stone Tales are a favorite in this house! But, like Marcy (and most NORMAL women) just let me LOOK AT HIM. Ohhhhhhhh.....and how I loved him in 3 men and a baby and then the sequel.

This is a great hub, bobbi! Thanks for giving me something wonderful to dream about tonight! LOL

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on May 21, 2012:

Hi gonzwalk,

Yes, they are on DVD, I purchased some at Walmart, and some online from Barnes and Nobles. And I believe I obtained #7 Jesse Stone DVD from Target.

Since I live 25 miles to the nearest town---shopping online is great for me.

But I have to tell you Walmart ships faster than Barnes and Nobles---and Target was so slow the last time I shopped from them, but it could have been because it was shipped free---and it came by turtle.

Anyway, I love my DVD's I can watch them anytime and it is free.

Thanks for your question.

Your Hub Friend,

gonzwalk on May 21, 2012:

Hi Bobbi, thanks so much for the info, I am definitely a Blue Bloods fan. I need to get some of these old movies. Thanks for the recap. Just as info are they on DVD?

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on May 21, 2012:

Tom Selleck has starred in all the movies of the Jesse Stone Series. I recapped them all in this hub---so everyone would be caught up for the "Benefit of the Doubt."

He will be doing another one after this one---and it will continue until he gets tired of working so hard on his T.V. series and making Jesse Stone Movies.

I hope you have seen his weekly "Blue Bloods" on CBS on Friday nights.

I appreciate you comment and please visit again.

gonzwalk on May 21, 2012:

This is the 1st Jesse Stone movie I have seen. So I was a little lost when it seemed to have ended so abruptly. Has Tom Selleck done all the Jesse Stone movies or is this the first one he has done?

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on February 17, 2012:

He is great and I enjoyed every minute of my research as I reviewed all 7 of my DVD's of Jesse Stone.

He also, has some Westerns that are very good.
