Heroic Ghost in Video Games

James is an avid reader with a book collection in the hundreds and growing. He enjoys wildlife, wilderness and the many simple things life

Even after death they’re good.

In this list I will be looking into Ghost that have appeared throughout video games and whether they helped the hero or in fact is the hero ultimately did the right and at least helped save the day. So first a few rules.

Rule one: The game doesn’t have to be about them to count.

Rule two: One ghost per series.

Rule Three: They have to do something more than just point the right way, they have to work for it to be on this list.

With all of that out of the way let us begin.

Number 1: Polterpup

From Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon

From Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon

He may have started as a mini boss in his first appearance but Polterpup quickly became a great ally in the sequel Luigi's Mansion 3. Polterpup will help Luigi out in the haunted hotel by pointing hidden secrets, actively chasing certain ghost (mainly the ghost cat) and even revive the plumber in green if he falls down provided that Luigi has a golden bone on him of course. Polterpup may not seem like much nor can you play has him but this is in fact a heroic ghost and a heroic dog all rolled into one happy ectoplasmic entity.

Number 2: Katria

Katria from Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim

Katria from Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim

There are many ghost in Skyrim some evil some friendly some indifferent, but i thought Katria would be a good choice given how much time you spend with her in the game. not only does Katria share great knowledge with the dragonborn but she will also fight by his side and even present him with both her old bow and a special item once having completed the quest. I Suppose one could just some up that she is really just in it for her self wanting to learn the secrets of the dwemer but cosidering all she does for the dragonborn i think she is worth a mention.

Number 3: Hero's Shad

From the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

From the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

The Hero's Shade is not the only ghost to appear in The Legend of Zelda series, but he is definitely the most memorable. In fact, hardcore fans know that he is the ghost of past Incarnation from another game (Ocarina of Time). It is not every day you get to meet a ghost of another of your past self!

He also takes on the interesting role of mentor for Link, teaching you different moves and techniques to help you on your quest. considering just how advanced and useful these moves are and just what he did in life I think this ghost is pretty heroic.

Number 4: Among Us Ghost

From Among Us

From Among Us

Okay this is a cheap shot I know but hear me out. These ghost could move on but instead they stick around preforming whatever task they might have in order to defeat the imposter or imposters from winning it's not much nut considering that you can't fight back in the game nor is it the kind of game where they could teach some sort of life saving technique I think these little guys are heroic in there own way, that is of course if the player chooses to. Unlike the other ghost on this list these ghost are playable, so long as you die first.

Final thoughts

This was a hard list to make, surprisingly there are not that many and even fewer of them are playable. Goetia is a point and click game to which a ghost is playabel but I don't know if I would call her heroic it's more discovering the truth rather than doing anything to save or helping those of the living. but what did any of you think perhaps you know something I don't, if so please leave me a comment in the section below. I'm Wanderin Jim and I hope you all have a super happy day.
