The finale of Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots aired on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Several noteworthy things happened, but a major bombshell came at the very end of the episode.
It was such a shocker that is giving viewers something to speculate about until the series returns on May 7, 2019.
Hanna and Derrick
The finale for The Haves and the Have Nots had fans talking and sharing their comments among themselves and on social media about all that happened on the last night of the recent season of the series.
People saw most of the things coming, but many people did not see the major bomb involving Derrick and Hanna. Even though that encounter happened at the end of the show, it is described first in this article because it was so shocking to this writer.
Hanna Young and her son Benny were still rejoicing because of Candace's breakthrough the previous week. Derrick had overheard Hanna and Candace’s emotional conversation when Candace made peace with her mother and shared many personal feelings.
The Lion Tattoo
Every chance Benny got, he warned his mother about Derrick, a handyman who works for Katheryn Cryer. Derrick also works for Veronica, and it was revealed during a previous episode that she knows about his past criminal history. She has often threatened to expose him.
Katheryn played matchmaker and encouraged Hanna to go out with Derrick. They have gone on several dates. Derrick has also spent the night with Hanna much to Benny's disapproval.
Benny just didn't feel good about Derrick, but many viewers thought it was just a son protecting his mother. Benny suggested that other men would be more appropriate for Hanna. However, she rejected all of them and confessed to Benny that she really likes Derrick.
When she asked Benny where Derrick was, Benny said he was in the kitchen staring into space. When Hanna went into the kitchen to check on her friend, he was bending over the sink and was crying. After Hannah repeatedly asked him what was wrong, he didn't say anything in the midst of his tears. Instead, he slowly lifted his shirt and a big tattoo of a lion's head was seen on the right side of his chest. Hannah didn't say a word but had a shocked look on her face as she backed away from the man she had begun to trust over the last couple of seasons.
Hanna did not remember the man who raped her 36 years ago, but she remembered the lion tattoo. Therefore, Hanna has been dating her rapist who is Candace’s father. The rape had resulted in the pregnancy of her first child.
As the season ended with one of the best cliffhangers of all the seasons, Derrick is left breaking down in tears and Hanna is devastated.
Fans are looking forward to the return of the series when more details about this story will be revealed.
There were other interesting stories on the finale but none as shocking as the revelation that Derrick is the one who raped Hanna and is Candace's father.
Charles and Candace
Candace gave Charles an update on the reconciliation with her mother. He was pleased to hear the news. After all, he was the one who suggested the encounter. Candace agreed to go to the White House with the President-Elect.
Their visit was going great. However, that is likely to change because the Attorney General recognizes and makes a call to the President and tells him that Candace is a prostitute.
David and Veronica
Veronica accused David of trying to get back with her just so she can help them and the Cryers with their legal defense. She stormed out of the Cryers' house and went home. David followed her and convinced her that he was not using her. During their conversation, Veronica confessed her crimes against the women in her husband's life after she checked to see that he wasn't wearing a wire.
David got away from her but promised to return after he got his bandages changed on his back. Outside the house, David called Jim Cryer and asked him to talk him down because he was so furious that he wanted to harm Veronica.
Wyatt and His Parents
Katheryn discovered that Wyatt had taken her medicine to get high. Jim tried to make Wyatt spit out the medicine to no avail. Wyatt threatened to kill his parents with a shotgun.
Justin and Jeffrey
Jeffery stopped by Justin’s place against the advice of his father and Madison, his father's nurse. Jeffrey was stunned to see all the pictures of himself posted all over the living room wall. Justin tried to get Jeffrey to stay by offering him wine, but Jeffrey refused. He tried to get Jeffrey to take off his jacket and sit. When Jeffrey attempted to leave, Justin broke a wine bottle and threatened to harm himself by holding the glass to his neck.
The finale was packed with lots of interesting stories that will continue in the next season. Fans do not have to wait long for the return. Mark your calendar for May 7, which isn't that far away.
- 'The Haves and the Have Nots' Trending About Derrick's Lion Head Tattoo
The finale of Tyler Perry's "The Haves and the Have Nots" aired on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. That episode has been trending on social media with many speculations. Some of them are reasonable, but some of them are farfetched.
DeWana on April 05, 2019:
I think Derrick Should be the son of the man or brother of the Man who raped Hanna. I really want to see them together. He has the tattoo because it’s a family symbol or something but not because he is the one who raped her.
Rose M. Gary on March 24, 2019:
I don't think that Derrick is Hanna's rapist. I think that he may know who is. He possibly had gang or other affiliation with others that wore a lion tattoo.
Margaret Minnicks (author) from Richmond, VA on March 22, 2019:
M. Cashow, I agree!
M. Cashow on March 22, 2019:
I really like Derrick and Hannah together. Hannah has had so much tragedy in her life that I think she deserves some happiness. Derrick was making her happy. Please don't spoil it.
