Elaine is a singer and songwriter from Pretoria, South Africa. She started singing in talent competitions at a very young age. In 2014, she won a gold medal at the 8th World Choir Games in Riga Latvia.

Elaine has released numerous hit records in the country. She is a emerging superstar. Her various hit singles include Your The One, Risky and I Just Wanna Know. Her EP Elements reached number one on both the Itunes and Apple music album charts. Elements was certified platinum quickly after its release. The young songstress recently signed to Columbia records.

Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Her professional music career began at the age of 16. She worked as a backup singer for Mary J Blige and George Michael. Savage signed her first major music deal in 2009 with Sony music. Inspired by Nigerian music, she moved back to Nigeria and signed with Marvin Records in 2012. Her debut album Once Upon A Time was released in July 2013. The album spawned many successful singles which include Kele Kele, Love (love me 3x) and Without My Heart. The album was nominated for Best album of the year at the 2014 Nigerian Entertainment Awards and for best Pop R&B album at the Headies 2014. In 2016, she signed with Roc Nation (Jay Z label) which produced her second album Sugarcane. This album was also successful internationally. She was again nominated at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

The diva is known as the queen of Afro Pop. She has done some successful cover work as well. Her rendition of Beyonce's song Keys to the Kingdom has won her more praise as a vocalist.

Savage is a Nigerian musical legend. She recently won an MTV Europe music award becoming the first woman to do so as international act.


Adina is a Ghanian South African singer and songwriter. She was born on October 3rd 1989. In 2008, she gained popularity after winning stars of the future music reality show. Her successful single include Too Late which won her record of the year and best female vocalist at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2018.

Adina has gone on to become a Ghana musical superstar. She has done some humanitarian work as well. The diva was inspired by the late Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin.


Thabsie is a awesome new artist who hails from Cape Town South Africa. She is of Zulu decent. Thabsie began her career as a backup singer for a number of musicians such as Black Motion, Proverb, Khuli Chana and Cassper Nyovest. The former grad student and cooperate banker quickly earned her way in the South African music scene. She rose to fame after being featured on Kwesta hit song Ngiyaz Fela Ngawe in 2017. This led her to pursue music as a full time career. She recently released her debut album.

Thabsie is best known for her beautiful R&B voice. Her many hit singles include Cry( ft Kid X), African Queen, Run Back and Ubuyanini.


Shekhinah is a wonderful musician and songwriter. She started her career on South Africa's Idols show in 2012. Her debut album Rose Gold was certified platinum in 2018. The album produced many successful singles which include Different and Please Mr. The songstress was nominated for many awards as well in her short career. She has a great voice.

Betty G

Betty G is a Ethiopian singer and songwriter. She is best known for her great singing voice. Her many hit singles include Yekelekilal and Na Na Demaye. She was inspired by Ethiopian Pop and Michael Jackson. Betty has won many Awards in Ethiopia as well as internationally.


Rowlene is South African singer and songwriter. She is an up and coming act. The young songstress is signed to Tall Racks records. She has released her debut album 11:11. It is currently during very well. Singles like Stop and Stay is gaining attention on local radio stations.

Her success hails from her popularity on social media. This helped the songstress land a record deal. Her popularit hit singles include Curtain Call and Cupid.

Asi Renie

Asi Renie is a Ghanaian up and coming young singer. She began singing professionally at the age of 17. She has worked with other Ghanian artists. The young songstress is best known for her powerful soulful voice. She has currently released her debut album Piece of Me. It is doing very well.



Mariechan was once apart of the South African Female group Jamali. She is of South African descent.

Her group is a legend in South Africa. They formed on the TV show Coca Cola Popstars. After a long career with her group, she decided to go solo. Her many hit singles include Let Me Live My Life, Missed Calls and Everything I Wanted.


Born in Johannesburg in 1979, South Africa Lira quickly rose to super-stardom. Her 2003 debut album, All My Love won numerous awards in South Africa which include a Chanel O Reel Award.

Her second album Feel Good 2006 won her a South African Music Award. She also gained significant airplay in Italy. The album was certified triple platinum by the recording industry of South Africa. Lira became the first South African artist to appear on Vh1.

The diva has gone on to release other multi platinum albums which include Soul in Mind and Return to Love. She has graced the cover of more than 30 world magazines and has sung for the Disney movie Moana.

The songstress was inspired by several American music legends such as Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder. She is one of the most successful and riches music acts in South Africa. The diva in her long career has won eleven South African music awards making her one of the most awarded musicians from the country.

Valerie Omari

Valerie Omari is best known for her raw and authentic r&b songs. The South African diva is emerging as a super star with her hit records such as Good times which features Congo/ South African rapper Rouge. Her other hit songs include Autumn Falling and Idea.

The young songstress continues to dazzle audience's with her beautiful r&b voice.

Ester Rada

The young songstress is a Israeli born Ethiopian singer. Her music is a fusion of Ethiopian Jazz, Funk, Soul and R&B.

Her EP was released in March as a follow up to her 2014 self titled album. Her many hit singles include Mr. Guilt, Four Women and The Man I Love. She is the best soul singer of East African descent.

Amanda Black

Amanda Black is a singer and songwriter from South Africa. The diva is best known for her great singing voice. She often sings in her native tongue of Xhosa. The songstress has many great records. Her voice is the best in all of Africa.

Amanda started singing in church at a young age. She began competing in talent shows at the age of twelve. The diva started her professional singing career on Idols South Africa season 11. Her appearance on the show led to a professional recording contract with ambitious entertainment. Her first album Amazulu was certified platinum quickly after its release. Amanda was inspired by various American artists such as Beyonce and Brandy Norwood.

This is an interesting article. I notice that,apart from Nigeria and Ethiopia, most singers are from South Africa. Is South Africa the main hub of the African music scene?
