Kirstie Alley has passed away at the age of 71 from colon cancer, following treatment in Florida. Reportedly, her death occurred not very long after her colon cancer diagnosis.
Kirstie Alley was a famous television and movie actress. Television and internet tributes regarding her death have emphasized that Kirstie Alley was also most importantly, a mother and grandmother. Statements from her family to the media note this importance as well.
Among her many other projects, Kirstie Alley is well known for her role in the television series Cheers, starring alongside Ted Dansen and the movies, Look Who’s Talking, Look Who’s Talking Too and Look Who’s Talking Now, starring alongside John Travolta.
In the Look Who’s Talking movie series, Kirstie Alley plays the movie role of a pregnant single woman who develops a romance with the taxi driver (played by actor John Travolta) who gets her to the hospital when she goes into labor.
In real life, Kirstie Alley and John Travolta were good friends.
Kirstie Alley had also been a former contestant on Dancing With The Stars.
David’s Mother movie
Within Kirstie Alley’s body of work was also a 1994 made for television movie titled David’s Mother. (There has also been a stage play titled David’s Mother.)
In the movie, Kirstie Alley plays the title role of David’s mother. In David’s Mother the movie, a devoted mother has a son who has Autism. Her husband leaves the family. A social worker (played by actress Phylicia Rashad) explains to David’s mother that legally, David needs to take advantage of a program that might be available to help him. He is in his early twenties at this point in time. Subsequently, in the movie, David leaves his home to enter a residential program.
