What Black Eye Peas Song

I saw the members of the band for the first time and realized they were something special. The following week, I did a little research and discovered their song was the first single to score one million downloads in the UK.

First Single to Score One Million Downloads in the UK

I attended my usual kickboxing class when Black Eye Peas “I Gotta Feeling” played over the sound system. That was the first moment I ever heard that song. I liked the upbeat feeling it gave me while I worked out.

A couple of weeks later, the Techno group performed at the Super Bowl XLV halftime entertainment show. Because “I Gotta Feeling” was part of the Black Eye Peas halftime performance, I saw the band members for the first time and realized they were something special. The following week, I did a little research and discovered it was the first single to score one million downloads in the UK.

Black Eyed Peas Get It Started

Inevitably though, my daughter was bewitched with “I Gotta Feeling.” She downloaded the song onto her device and listened non-stop. The electronic tinkles of, Fergie, Taboo and played on and on. The Peas now had my full attention, and I never missed their Techno songs during my workout classes.

I continued my research and discovered that the Peas arrived, initially, identified as an American hip-hop group. When they released “Boom Boom Pow,” followers tweeted they turned to Techno. The artists are rapper, a multi-instrumentalist, rappers Taboo and, and singer, sometimes rapper Fergie. From 2003 when the group released Elephunk, their albums and singles sold well over 27 million worldwide.

Topping the Billboard Charts

Can you recall "Where Is the Love?" The band's first hit song. It topped well beyond ten charts. "My Humps" and "Don't Phunk with My Heart" were the two hit singles that followed their Monkey Business album.

The group kept getting better and better. By 2009, the foursome did something rare. They held the #1 and #2 places simultaneously with "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling" on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart.

The foursome's accomplishments continued with "Meet Me Halfway" on The E.N.D. album reaching parallel success with their other songs. The song stayed #1 for 30 straight weeks. The first song in music history accomplished the ranking.

Black Eyed Peas Members

The Black Eye Peas went through several makeovers before becoming a phenomenon invited to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. Both and belonged to a group named Atban Klann. They hooked up in the eighth grade when they used their real names, William Adams and Allan Pineda. Together they rapped and performed covering Los Angeles.

Warren Beatty’s Political Movie, "Bulworth"

A friend, Dante Santiago, joined them and called themselves Atban Klann. They recorded their inaugural album called Grass Roots. But, it never hit the streets because the producer passed away. Atban Klann reorganized and relevantly renamed themselves Black Eyed Pods, subsequently, Black Eyed Peas.

Dante Santiago was no longer with the group, and Jaime Gomez (Taboo) replaced him. Along came Kim Hill, who developed into their long-lasting background singer. Interestingly, their hit single on their "Joints & Jam" album plays in Warren Beatty's political movie, Bulworth.

The Black Eye Peas transformed several times before they became a celebrated phenomenon. Then, the band gets invited to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Fergie Soloing

Fergie joined the group when they worked on their third album Elephunk, the first time Fergie was featured. Her full name is Fergie Duhamel, and she was brought into the group by Dante Santiago. The Peas sound developed into an accomplished, futuristic, and polished performance, and it looked like they would never stop.

Most recent reports from Billboard say Fergie is now soloing, and the group, as a whole, says it’s okay. She wants to spread her talent and make a name for herself. Both Fergie and the group feel that they will be together again through the boom, boom pow of the music business.

Black Eyed Peas "Street Livin"

The band's single "Street Livin" came as a surprise to the fans because they released it without warning and after eight years of waiting for a new song. The song is nothing like their earlier songs. The video offers a sense of foreboding with images of society's trouble spots. It's reported the song is related to the Peas' new comic book Masters of the Sun: The Zombie Chronicles.

Then came "Get Ready" without Fergie, and all is well with her and the group. The song is hip-hop, with the band kicking high in front of a brick wall. The female voice is refreshing and keeps me watching and listening.

The song is part of their album Masters of the Sun, Vol. 1.

You are welcome, Peggy. Interestingly, their latest song "Street Livin" is not really that upbeat. It is totally different and their first song in eight years. I don't see myself working out with "Street Livin."

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on January 12, 2018:

I second what Linda Crampton wrote. Their music is definitely upbeat and I can understand why you would like to work out with their music playing. Thanks for the introduction to them.

You're are welcome. Thanks for reading my article. Their latest song, Street Livin just came out this week. It is quite different from any other song they've produced. I just added it to the article.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on January 12, 2018:

Though I've heard of Black Eyed Peas, I've never listened to their music. Thanks for introducing them to me and for sharing the videos.

Kenna McHugh (author) from Northern California on January 12, 2018:

I gotta feeling that would happen. : )

Patrick from Nairobi on January 12, 2018:

:) Your article actually made me go back to listening to more of their songs. Pow!

Kenna McHugh (author) from Northern California on January 12, 2018:

Thank you for reading my article. I have always enjoyed the Peas' upbeat music. They look like they are having so much fun, too. And, thank you for the corrections. I will make the adjustments, shortly. I will mention their new song as well. Boom, Boom, Pow!

Patrick from Nairobi on January 12, 2018:

They just released a new one "Street Livin' " loving it.

Great article about the group. I've always loved their work. Also wanted to mention that you may have confused Fergie's real name for another artist. Her full name is Fergie Duhamel. But there had been rumours that Nicole Scherzinger would replace her.
