Synth Single Review: "Retro Future" by SynthPrincipal

SynthPrincipal’s Retro Future is a tightly woven, intricately layered slice of synth sound. Stuttering, cutting synths with a harsh string-like sound break into the track in quick, stutter stepping pulses. The cutting synths are joined by a hitching, rapid beat that oscillates and adds a secondary textural layer and a sense of direction to the track. The synths weave in between string-like pulses and repetitive, jagged sounds.

A flashing, edgy pattern of bright, medium-high synth flows hypnotically through the track while the beat grows more solid, deep and powerful. Starbursts of synth light dance in and through the music and a ramping up, laser-like sound slices over the bass pattern. The laser like sound winds up and then fades as the dynamism and angularity of the beat shapes the track. There’s a high tech energy here, a sense of computerized progress before the unrelenting beat slowly fades out.
