Synth Single Review: "Flesh Materialisation Pylon" by SurgeryHead

SurgeryHead’s Flesh Materialisation Pylon is a full-on aural assault that refuses to apologize or explain itself. Tense, shadowed string sounds tremble and pop into the music as it begins. A harsh wash of rough-edged synth moves as the strings slice into the echoing space around them. Elevated chiming sounds cry out and the percussion brushes the surface of the track before a wall of gritty, battering sound crackles over the charging aggression of the drums.

A wild, spinning, churning jagged synth line slashes in a minor key pattern over screaming voices. An angular, repeating melody breaks into stuttering, shattered sounds while the guitar lacerates. The track surges and growls as an angry, wandering synth flies over the broken, drums, deep bass and tearing synth. The lead synth goes spinning out into the ferocious maelstrom of sound around it before fading out.
