Synth Single Review: "Evergreen" by Wave Complex

Wave Complex’s Evergreen soothes and drifts like a lullaby as it unfolds. A gentle, delicate piano carries a caressing melody along with fragile chimes, a misty glide and the wash of waves on an unseen shore. Easy going percussion with a light touch adds some form to the music. The string sounds are full of warm sensations as they first appear. The string-like synths play trembling, butterfly wing notes that slip along like water while the drums form a heartbeat that supports the other elements.

The string pattern undulates as resonant xylophone-like notes ring and trickle while the beat has a solid but not overwhelming presence. The string-like synths are pastel and aching with feeling as their hypnotic pulsation continues. There’s a return to the original, tremulous piano notes and the shine of the chiming, dense notes flows above as waves splash around the music while the drums keep up their relaxed throb. Full, open synth sounds match the beat while the full, lush chimes slow down and fade away.
