Synth Single Review: "Crave" by Mordente

Mordente’s Crave is a study in contrasts between aggression and delicacy, surging dark energy and smoother flow. Writhing, squirming high synth moves over steadily pulsing bass in an unsettling motion. A hard-hitting kick drum and a tapping hi-hat come in along with rough bass throb to guide the track. Broad, digital-sounding notes ring out in single, separated lines. Now smooth, high synth swirls as sweeping, gruff-edged chords swell.

Chugging, slicing bass oscillates under single, echoing synth notes and softer arpeggios arc through the music, rippling in nasal lines. Angular bass grit churns underneath the raised, digital-sounding notes. Seething, tense, medium-low synth shifts over the throbbing drums and bass. Air rushes and the threatening weight of the energetic bass pulsates in conjunction with the drums. Gentler, fuller synth chords flow and guttural bass moves as the wide-sounding notes fade into silence.
