Synth Single Review: "Arcadia" by Mike Sawyer

Mike Sawyer's Arcadia combines sonic layers to weave an auditory fabric shot through with deep emotion. It integrates synths into an interlocking, textured whole that is expressive and complex. The track comes to life as hulking bass with a vaguely disturbing vocal quality is joined by bending, wriggling, elevated sounds.

Fragile synth sparkles as a static sound brushes through the music. An ethereal, flute-like instrument glides, carrying a gently caressing melody through the track. The melody has a gliding quality to it along with a breathy, flowing feeling. Brightly metallic notes shimmer into sliding sonic clouds and distantly rumbling bass.

Sharp-edged sound shivers and elevated, glowing synth chords add fullness to the music. Glimmering chimes glide out into the background of deeply sonorous bass and soft audio clouds. The flute is a trembling, emotive presence that expresses feelings of loss and pain as the track fades out into silence
