What to Watch After My Hero Academia
While having to wait for the next My Hero Academia season is a little annoying, many would say it's better than having to sit through dozens of episodes of filler. It also gives us a chance to get caught up on the other excellent shows out there.
Here are five great shows to watch while waiting for new episodes of MHA.

1. Voltron: Legendary Defender
The overlap between the MHA and Voltron fandoms is huge, and for good reason: Both provide an amazing cast, gripping action, and drama that rarely slips into useless angst.
Voltron is arguably even better than MHA because it avoids the shonen tournament and training tropes, though it does occasionally fall into silly episodic comedy that slows the pace too much.
If your favorite thing about MHA is the characters, you should give Voltron a try. You'll surely become invested in at least one of the six Voltron pilots, and the solid supporting characters are worth cheering for as well.

2. Yuri!! On Ice
A figure-skating anime might seem like a stretch, but hear me out: Fans of MHA's friendships (and more) will fall in love with Yuri!! On Ice's wholesome character dynamics.
Yuri is basically older, slightly more tired Deku without superpowers. If you squint and tilt your head, Victor is kind of a sassy bishonen All Might. (Seriously, I could see Victor melodramatically saying, "It's alright now, for I am here!" to announce his arrival at practices.)
The stunning animation brings the figure-skating scenes to life and creates tension in a way that rivals that of MHA's fight scenes. At just 12 episodes, this series avoids filler and can be marathoned in a weekend.
Bonus: A movie was slated to be released in 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

3. Baccano!
Baccano! is a strange series that bounces between times and places to tell an intricate story of immortals and the people around them. Like MHA, its strength lies in its characters, since even the villains are likable and relatable.
Its clever action scenes help it rise above other, similar shows. Unfortunately, this is one series where its short length worked against it; there's truly not much time for character development or epic plot twists.

4. Hunter x Hunter 2011
While the original anime was also solid, fans save their ravest reviews for the 2011 remake of this classic shonen series. The main character, Gon Freeccs, can be a little flat at times, but his journey is still a joy to watch. What makes this show a real gem is its collection of supporting characters.
Kurapika, in particular, is a fan favorite, and his development alone makes this show worth watching for MHA fans. (No spoilers!) Just like MHA, there's an assortment of enemies and rivals that our heroes must deal with as they strive to pass the Hunter examinations.

Soul Eater is about teens with fantasy powers in a special academy with a bunch of weird teachers and a not-quite-human principal in charge. Both are animated by Studio Bones and are based on long-running shonen manga series.
Ultimately, the Soul Eater anime has a few pacing and plot issues that make it weaker than its manga, and its fight scenes aren't as clever as MHA's. Its lean 51 episodes make it a solid choice to watch until more MHA is aired, though.

I watched voltron for a while but when I got farther into the seasons it just got worse and confusing, I don’t finish a lot of anime and shows, but sometimes I want to watch them again, but not with voltron, it’s just too much, not to mention the fans of that show, not all of them are bad though, just a lot of them are annoying and such

Soul Eater is a sad shadow of the manga (and even the manga was cut short), so I'm not sure I agree there. And voltron I haven't watched since the original, because remakes drop the ball over half the time and voltron was already just barely good. Hunter x Hunter was amazing, and I've heard good things about the other 2 (although Yuri on Ice doesn't even look close to anything I'd personally watch).

Generally liked most of them except Voltron. Because that show is a trainwreck (not a shipper but even I can tell the storytelling is getting worse every season). Felt shitty for a while until I watched Castlevania Season 2.
