Margaret Minnicks has been an online writer for many years. She writes about various topics including celebrities and entertainment.

For the first time in over a decade, at least eight daytime talk shows are going off the air. Dr. Phil McGraw and Tamron Hall are the only solo hosts of daytime talk shows scheduled to continue into 2023 and beyond.

  1. The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended on May 26, 2022 after 19 seasons and 3,294 episodes.
  2. Judge Jerry was canceled on March 9, 2022 after three seasons and 200+ episodes.
  3. The Real ended on June 3, 2022 after eight seasons and 1,360 episodes.
  4. The Doctors talk show came to an end after 14 seasons and 1,900+ episodes.
  5. The Dr. Oz Show ended on January 14, 2022 after 13 seasons and 1,681 episodes.
  6. The Good Dish, hosted by Dr. Oz's daughter filled his show's timeslot from January 17, 2022, but ended on May 25, 2022 after only 87 episodes.
  7. The Nick Cannon Show comes to an end after only six months.
  8. The Wendy Williams Show ended on June 17, 2022 after 13 seasons and 1500+ episodes.

New Talk Shows

Viewers don't have to worry about the long list of canceled talk shows because there will still be enough daytime talk shows to go around.

Two new daytime talk shows will premiere on September 12, 2022. Sherri Shepherd will take over the former Wendy Williams Show's timeslot. However, she is not replacing Wendy. She will have her own show.

Jennifer Hudson will occupy The Kelly Clarkson Show old timeslot because Kelly is moving to the timeslot that was left vacant afterThe Ellen DeGeneres Show went off the air.

Sherri Shepherd is no stranger to daytime talk shows. She was a co-host on the popular ABC's The View for seven years. She was the most frequent guest host of the final season of The Wendy Williams Show. During the times she hosted, the show received the highest ratings.

Sherri takes over the same time slot that was previously occupied by The Wendy Williams Show. It will start out in more than 97 percent of the country with the Fox TV stations. Eighty percent of The Wendy Williams Show's team will keep working in the same New York City studios. However, it is up to Sherri and her producers how they will decorate the studio and what the format of the show will be.

Viewers are glad to learn that most of the same cast and crew of the former Wendy Williams Show will be part of the Sherri show. That means many of the employees will still have jobs. The 20 percent who are not joining Sherri might be because of retirement, other opportunities, or something else. The 80 percent is a very favorable number for all concerned.

  • Debmar-Mercury, the production company behind Williams' show, will produce the Sherri show.
  • David Perler, the longtime executive producer of The Wendy Williams Show, will be the showrunner and one of the executive producers.
  • Shepherd will also be an executive producer along with Perler and her producing partner, Jawn Murray.
  • Suzanne Bass, Joelle Dawson, and Fernita Wynn will continue to be co-executive producers.
  • Norman Baker will keep his supervising producer job for Sherri just as he did for The Wendy Williams Show. He is excellent at his job, knowledgeable, and well-liked.

Sherri is a versatile person with a great fit for the daytime studio audience as well as for viewers. She has a track record of relating to people in a natural way. Of course, Sherri will bring her comedic side to her show as well as her skills as a talented actress and talk show host.

"The Jennifer Hudson's Show"

The Jennifer Hudson Show will premiere on September 12, 2022, the same day as Sherri hosted by Sherri Shepherd. That particular date is special to both women, but it is a bit more special for Jennifer because it will be her 41st birthday.

JHUD's daytime talk show is described as a variety comedy talk show produced by Warner Bros with Fox Television Stations and Hearst Television as the show's lead carriers. Taping will be done in the same studio that Ellen used. The same executive producers and showrunners will be used who had been there for Ellen since 2003. It appears that Jennifer will inherit perks from The Ellen DeGeneres Show that had been used for 19 seasons. However, Jennifer will not inherit Ellen's old timeslot. That timeslot will go to Kelly Clarkson, and Jennifer will get Kelly's old timeslot.

Jennifer has a lot to celebrate. On June 12, 2022, she became one of only seventeen people to become an EGOT. That means she has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

"Tamron Hall" Show

The Tamron Hall daytime talk show is not new. She is included along with the other two Black females to remind people they have a third choice of daytime talk shows to watch.

One thing for sure is that all three women will bring their own uniqueness to their shows. Their personalities, gifts, talents, evidence of their careers, and of course fashions will be worth seeing every weekday.

Tamron's background is in journalism. Therefore, she excels when interviewing her guests. Sherri is good with hot topics, and Jennifer could sing some of her own songs as Kelly Clarkson does.

The Tamron Hall talk show premiered on September 9, 2019. Over three seasons, there have been 524 episodes on ABC Owned Television Stations and local stations. Her talk show is broadcast in 206 markets across the United States as well as to the United States Armed Forces on AFN Spectrum. The show is aired in Canada through the Global Television Network. It has been renewed for Seasons 4 and 5 through 2024.
