Marian Rivera, whose real name is Marian Gracia Rivera, is a Spanish-Filipina commercial model, singer, and an actress. She became famous for her title role in 2007 as Marimar in a television series "Marimar", a remake of the Mexican film with the same title.

Marian Rivera was born on 12 August 1984 in Madrid, Spain. Her father is Francisco Javier Gracia Alonso, from Spain, and her mother is a Filipina from Cavite, Philippines. She grew up in Bacoor, Cavite with her maternal grandmother Francisca Rivera. She took her elementary and high school education at Saint Francis of Assissi College System. After getting her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology degree in De La Salle University, she worked for National Institue of Mental Health in Mandaluyong City.

In 2007, Marian Rivera played the lead role with actor Dingdong Dantes in the telenovela Marimar, a Mexican telenovela first aired in 1994, The Phillippine remake of Marimar was such a huge success that it catapulted Marian Rivera to fame. The telenovela was even aired in the U.S., China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Uganda. The show earned Marian Rivera the Phenomenal TV Star award in the 38th Box-Office Entertainment Awards.
