On this article, Satanism in Hip Hop, i will provide you how the rapper Tupac allegedly sold his soul to the devil for money and fame.

* note to readers- this information was gathered by youtube videos, and Tupac's own lyrics he wrote. I am not in any way forcing you to believe what is written. In the end, this is for entertainment purposes only. The only thing i ask for you is an open mind.*

* note to readers- I do not believe you can sell your soul to the devil. I am not saying Tupac did sell his soul, he may have written these lyrics as metaphoric meanings. I do not in any way intend for this article to disrespect Tupac in any way.*

R.I.P. Tupac Shakur - June 16, 1971- September 13, 1993.

Tupac Shakur was an amazing person. On this article i will show you clues through his lyrics how he sold his soul to the devil. Towards the end of Tupac's life, he realized what he was doing and repeatedly asked for forgiveness from God. Tupac was murdered on September 13, 1993. There are mixed thoughts on why Tupac was murdered. Some believed was murdered by the Illuminati, but that's another topic for another day.

Tupac, like most artist that sold their soul, clearly states through his lyrics he sold his soul. The first lyric we will look over is from his song "simile". I would recommend for you to go to youtube and listen to these songs as we go over them.

" Sellin' my soul for material wishes, fast cars and b------, within i live my life a legend, immortalized in pictures"

This lyric is self explanatory.

Now lets move on to the next lyric.

"Good Life"

"Sold my soul for a chance to kick it and bang
Now tell if I'm wrong
but sayin "F--- the world" got you deeper in my songs
Drinkin 'til I hurl, spendin money 'til it's gone
It's the good life - maybe n---- got it goin on"

At this point of Tupac's life, when he first sold his soul, He enjoyed it. "Kick it and bang". This phrase means Tupac's thug life, and how good it was. He was bragging, nonetheless. The Devil works in through possession, and its obvious he was possessed in his early stage of his career.

"When Thugs Cry"

Scroll to Continue

"Am I cold or is it just I sold my soul?
Addicted to these streets, never find true peace I'm told
Come take my body God, don't let me suffer any longer"

This lyric says it all. Tupac realized at this point that the deal with the devil was true, he had no soul, which is why he feels cold. "Never find true peace im told"- This verse is stating that from selling his soul he will never find peace in his heart. He asks God to take his body, and don't let him suffer any longer. He is admitting to God he sold his soul, and is asking him to forgive him and relive him from his misery.

" My Closest Roaddawgs"

"It was cool cause i love ya,
F--- wut they talkin bout let me take you back in time,
rewind to 89,
introduced me to this life of crime"

The year 1989 was the year Tupac made his name in the music world. "Rewind to 89, introduced me to this life of crime"- Also in 1989, is when Tupac sold his soul, for the "chance to kick it and bang". Tupac is saying he sold his soul to live the gangster life, which occurred in 1989.

"My Closest Roaddawgs"

"murder murder mister Lucifer,
pictures of the devil,
duck when he shoot ya,
its all political"

In the same song, Tupac once again talks about the devil. This lyric is saying Satan has power in the streets and in politics.

"As the World Turns"

"Merciless thieves stole the best of me
I pray to black Jesus to please take the rest of me"

The first line, "Merciless thieves stole the best of me" is referring to demons as "thieves". What is most important to anybody, it would be their soul. The second line is Tupac again asking for forgiveness from God.

"Ghetto Star"

" Just sell me your soul and live the life of a ghetto star"

Tupac is repeating what the devil promised him.

Everybody makes mistakes. Tupac just happened to make the biggest mistake, Selling his soul for material things. Tupac often spoke out on selling you soul in public, which many believed that was why he was murdered. Tupac had a good heart, he just let greed overtake him. If this is true.
Thank you for reading and i hope you enjoyed it.

I'm pretty sure there is a lot more references but I strongly believe it's a metaphor. I believe the term selling your soul means you sacrifice something like privacy and your own comfort for your ability to have something you want.

I hope tupac is in heaven i love tupac so much. He helped me through the last 20 years of my life and he did love God i hope god sees my heart is pure as PAC said on makaveli R.I.P 2pac much love i hope your with God.

Lucy on September 15, 2015:

I think it may just be me...but at 4:07 in Tupac Shakur's song 'Only God Can Judge Me', you can hear him in the background saying, "It's real...ill****ati'. That is exactly what it sounds like to me. Introspectively speaking, I believe it was Tupac's unique way of exposing THEM beyond his genius lyricism. In essence, that is the power of his voice. Through both figuratively and literally expressing his experiences in the music industry, he unequivocally imparted his reality. I don't think anyone can fully understand the significance of this considering the confusion about what he represented and from where he derived his fame and success. In light of this, from what I have researched about his life, it can distinctly be instated that he was involved with individuals who were practicing Freemasons and on his album cover for 'All Eyez On Me', by pointing to the freemasonry emblem whilst making the horns with his fingers, it was and remains indicative of his affiliations with such people. However, the poignancy of his passionate representation of the struggles of African American life in the U.S., and through his ostensible interest in finding strength in the LORD (despite nonsensical claims that he was deist), he transcended the textbook rapper and epitomised what communities living in despair truly need, love and interdependent cooperation. RIP Tupac Shakur. Never has Rap seen a poet who candidly spoke the truth and detested the deliberate hardships of his people.

Tupac died in 96 I know because I will never that day. He did not sell his that's why he died cause he wouldn't. Listen to it closely he spoke very positive so don't try to destroy what he stood for.

I agree except pac didn't sell his soul in 89 he did it when he signed with Death Row in 95 he said it himself I just signed my soul to the devil...pac never wanted to sign with suge but what do u when someone has ur freedom in front of you....pac did sell his soul but he wasn't down for the crazy shit....Some argue he wasn't brilliant until signing to death row he has always been a genius it was in his blood however his style switched up wen signing to the row he wasn't happy and tupac wasn't stupid he knew they would eventually kill him...that's y he talked about it so much he was warning the up coming rappers y sell ur soul to end up in im a huge pac fan and I respect him because he kept it 100 but it took a even bigger man to come out and expose the illuminati and 4 those who say pac sucked shock g dick its a pac

Masi Satttva on January 17, 2014:

Tupac didn't have to sell his soul because it was taken from him once he reached fame and richness. In the bible Jesus says those who inherit the Earth will not inherit Heaven. Those who cleave to the flesh then that of the Spirit will not inherit Heaven. Tupac preached the Gangsta lifestyle he even preached about Thug Life. Tupac was rich and forever famous. It is sadly to say that it is a good chance that Tupac is in Hell paying for his sins. With that said I'm going to leave on this note.

Tupac selling his soul is a "figure of speech" in song lyrics, he didn't actually sell his soul. There are more people in Rock music that actually do sell their soul to the devil.

He was human like the rest of us, we all sin. I think Tupac knew he was a sinner and fought with those demons every day, just like the rest of us, I feel he was repentant through some of his lyrics but who can say for sure.

Nathan on March 04, 2012:

Man, first off... you can't even HEAR Pac. What do I mean when I say that? I mean how you've misquoted him, you didn't even get the year that he died right. Pac was always labeled as "contradictory". Cause he was, he went back and forth a number of times. The last time he couldn't pick himself up. Hell if you wanted a quote about how he sold his soul he told his mother when he signed with Death Row (so Suge would post his bail) that he knew he sold his soul, but he felt dead in jail. He knew his days were numbered. However, Pac had incredible love for his brother. He was willing to die for his brother. No matter how much money and success he had he could never be happy seeing his people poor and in pain. God loved Tupac. It's just evident. God leads us all, whether we know it or not. Pac had the whole country singing "Hail Mary" even after he was gone. Go look up his poem "God". The devil stole his humanity, and he gave it up willingly. His soul? That's not even up to us to decide. How can you even say such a thing. I personally am Catholic/Christian. I believe Jesus when he said, "Deny me, Deny my father, but don't deny the spirit". Pac had the spirit in him for sure. That's why he could never find peace in this world. I think like most conflicted souls he went to purgatory, and is in or on his way to heaven. It ain't always how it goes in the books, and God is a great mystery. I think what you really need to look at with Pac is this: he KNEW he was going to die/be murdered. I think he especially knew it after signing to Death Row, and he definitely knew it when you look at that last picture of him riding with Suge. In that moment, who did he try to save? Himself? or did he continue trying to save the oppressed, impoverished, people in pain?

LuCy McBee on July 07, 2011:

I have watched many of the videos from youtube that pick apart rap lyrics and claim that all of them sold their souls to Satan. It is rather strange some of the things they make reference to out of no where. I am a strong Christian who happens to love rap music. I was devestated to by this and at first bought into it, hook line and sinker. I am not sure where I stand at this point because the lyrics are clear. Many artist claim from their own mouths that they Sold their souls, why shouldn't we believe it? But, if you listen to other lyrics, especially from Tupac....he speaks to God directly or makes reference to him. When he makes reference to selling his soul, I believe he is metophorically speaking about the compromise of his values that came with fame. Here are some songs from Tupac that make it hard to believe he was not a Christian.

1. Lord Knows

2. Ghetto Gospel

3. Dear Lord

4. So Many Tears

5. Only God Can Judge Me

6. I Wonder if Heaven's Got a Ghetto

These are just a some of the songs where Tupac cleary shows that he feared God, pleads for forgiveness from his sins, etc. Tupac also was both a poet and Gangsta. If you watch some of his early interviews he explains that he did create a character through Thug Life, an image he portrayed. He was not fake; he did indeed live out the role of Thug.

As far as the other rappers that are alleged Satanist, I am not 100% sure of. I can only imagine though that all extremely famous artist would feel as if they sold their souls. The soul is the core of person, and to make it mainstream you pulled in so many different directions, controlled by image, public image, they lose the freedom of just being themselves. I am sure they feel as if they did sell their souls, but did they literally? I just don't know about that.

he was a thug but not those who will rappe and robbe you (a criminal).. (he and a lot of people like me self) Thug life is when you have nothing, and succeed, when you have overcome all obstacles to reach your aim.

and he wasn't no gangsta.. he was a poet and he lived a thug that made him a thug but nothing else...

R.I.P. to Tupac if you are really dead.

Hope you are doing well if you are alive and hope you return 'cuz I'm expecting you like I am expecting Jesus to come back.
